The Life & Peace Institute Internship: The primary goal of the programme is to provide work experiences for individuals with an academic background in peace and conflict or a closely related field.

The Life & Peace Institute (LPI) is an international and ecumenical centre of research on and action for peace and justice.

Their aim is to further the causes of justice, peace and reconciliation through a combination of action-oriented research and conflict transformation programmes in the field.

Interns will be actively involved in the work of the institute. Depending on academic background the interns will work in the Programme- Admin/Finance- or the Communications Unit.

The tasks of the interns vary. Internship task may vary both on the interest of the intern but also depending on the needs of the Institute.

Possible Tasks:

  • Assist in the daily work of the Programme and Communications units including
  • Supporting the LPI field offices
  • The development of programme methodology and project implementation
  • The production of LPI’s publications, the website, internal newsletters etc;
  • Participating in the planning, implementing, documenting and evaluating of conferences and seminars;
  • Translation of crucial documents from English to French and vice versa when possible
  • assist in the daily function of the whole Institute, including administrative work

    The applicants should be graduates of post-secondary programmes such as peace and conflict studies, political science, international relations, human rights, development or communication.

    The application should include:

  • Application letter
  • Curriculum Vitae with three referees and age of the applicant
  • Personal cover letter describing your studies and motivation for applying to the Life & Peace Institute
  • Copies of certificates and a copy of National Identify card or passport will be required in case of an interview

    Preference is given to applicants who can stay for a long period of time minimum six months on full time basis.

    Internships should preferably start in January or June.

    The Institute will reimburse the cost of transport and lunch expenses to the tune of Kenya shillings Ten Thousand only (Ksh.10,000).
