The Legacy Scholarship Program

Africans Scholarship » Ugandans Scholarship » University/Tertiary Scholarship

Pioneered by Invisible Children’s Country Director, Jolly Grace O. Andruvile, and managed entirely by Ugandan community leaders, the Legacy Scholarship Program (LSP) provides scholarships and mentoring to 563 secondary and 201 university students from Gulu, Amuru, and Pader districts.

The Legacy Scholarship Program, is an initiative that develops the leadership and life skill capacities of promising students.

The program focuses on increasing access to post-primary education, improving learning environments, and providing mentoring from local leaders.

Acceptance into the program is based on a combination of academic performance and level of vulnerability, with special consideration given to children who are total orphans, heads of household, formerly abducted returnees, those living positively with HIV/AIDS, or child mothers.

Once accepted into LSP, each student receives:

  • A full paid, merit-based scholarship
  • Mentoring from one of IC’s 24 full-time mentors
