TWAS Fellowships for Postdoctoral Research in Advance Training

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The fellowships are for postdoctoral reserach and advanced training.
  • They are offered to young scientists upto the age of 40 years who have recently earned ( or are about to earn ) a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
  • Eligible applicants for the fellowships are young scientists in any natural sciences who are citizens for a developing country and are employed by a research institution in a developing country.
  • Preference will be given to young scientists based at institution that lack adequate research facilities, particulary those in the Least Developed Countries.

    Duration:

    The fellowships are offered for a minimum period of six months and a maximum of twelve months.

    Value:

  • The fellowships cover international air fare (APEX or equivalent rate) and a contribution towards subsistence costs amounting to a maximum of US$200.00 per month.
  • The host institution will be expected to provide accomodation and food as well as research facilities.

    Application:

  • Applications are accepted from young scientists in developing countries upto the age of 40 years, who hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and are employed by the TWAS institution in a developing country.
  • Application should be typewritten in English.
  • Part-I of the application from should be completed by the applicant and the head of the applicant's institution, the sent* ot the TWAS secretariat.

  • The completed application form;
  • The applicant's curriculum vitae
  • Full list of publications
  • The quotation of a travel agent or airline for the least expensive air fare to destination
  • In addition, letters of recommendation must be submitted separately to TWAS by two referees who are familiar with the applicant's work.
  • If the applicant is a Ph.D. student, one of the two referees must be the applican'ts Ph.D. supervisors.
