Scholarship Opportunities for Consumers International Conference

The Michigan Department of Community Health is offering a limited number of consumer scholarships for the International Conference on Self-Determination scheduled for May 27-29, at the Marriott Renaissance Center in Detroit, Michigan.

International perspectives on progressive notions of mental health recovery, family supports, community membership, ending forced impoverishment and system change requirements will be part of the focus of the conference.

The meetings will feature leaders from across disability and aging and relate the efforts being made across the world to make freedom a reality for individuals with disabilities.

This conference will be a place where people representing different countries, many US states and disability groups will gather to have open and in-depth discussions about what is working and what is not working to further self-determination for people who rely on publicly funded supports.

The conference will also provide opportunities for building cross disability and international alliances to strengthen advocacy and leadership of self-determination.

Scholarships will be awarded on a first come, first served basis.
