SONA Conference Travel Grants

SONA is a non-profit organization registered in Nairobi, Kenya and functions as the umbrella organization for the regional and national neuroscience societies and groups in Africa.

The society's mandate is to promote research and teaching in neuroscience in Africa.

The society shall be an autonomous, African-wide, non-governmental, non-political and non-profit making scientific organization established by neuroscientists in Africa to pursue the objects and undertake the functions set out:

  • To promote and foster the scientific activities of neuroscientists in Africa; and to stimulate and nurture the spirit of scientific research and technological innovation in order to serve the causes of socio-economic development and regional cooperation
  • To facilitate the role of neuroscientists in social and economic development and to promote the creation of an environment through which science and scientists can grow and thrive
  • Establish a Fellowship programme intended to stimulate and facilitate Pan African and international interdisciplinary advanced training and research in the neurosciences

    There will be a limited number of travel grants for African neuroscientists to attend the SONA conference.

    The applicant must have registered and submitted an abstract for presentation and must be a member of their national neuroscience society and SONA.

    Please ensure that your national society provides the SONA Database and Secretariat with an updated list of members to facilitate processing of your travel grant application
