Sudan, El Geneina

The Office of the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Khartoum is seeking qualified candidates for the following post:

Rule of Law Officer

Organization: United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

Duty Station: El Geneina

Section: Rule of Law Unit

Contract Type/Level: ALD 3

Post Duration: One year

Requirements

University degree or equivalent qualification in Law;

Five (5) years of successive field experience in rule of law, human rights and/or protection, of which at least two (2) years in conflict/post-conflict settings, preferably in Africa;

Extensive knowledge of access to justice and legal aid programming in developing countries; working knowledge of Sudanese justice system;

Ability to handle confidential and politically sensitive information;

Excellent command of written and spoken English; working knowledge of Arabic;

Demonstrated initiative and perseverance; self-starter, highly motivated and comfortable in a multi-cultural team setting;

Ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines; results-driven; and,

Previous experience with the United Nations in similar positions would constitute a major advantage.
