Reporting Intern - Uganda

ACTED (Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development) is an apolitical and non-confessional international relief agency created in Afghanistan.

The organization works in Northern Uganda as well as in Karamoja on a cross border basis with Kenya.

In Karamoja, the focus is on enhancing food security and resilience to shocks/disasters, especially droughts as well as improving the primary education sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Country Director, the Reporting Officer will:

Set-up and maintenance of project filing system;

Filing of internal and external communication;

Update the project database;

Collect and synthesize data from the field;

Write narrative and financial reports in coordination with the Program Managers and Area Coordinators;

Support in writing new project proposals;

Attend UN and NGO coordination and information meetings.

Qualifications:

University degree in journalism, international relations, development studies, political or social science;

Relevant reporting work experience;

Excellent writing and drafting skills;

Proficiency in written and spoken English; French an added advantage;

Previous experience in the humanitarian field with good knowledge of donor regulations and requirements;

Proven ability to work creatively and independently both in the field and in the office;

Being a strong team player and adept at creating a strong team spirit;

Ability to work with culturally diverse groups of people;

Ability to travel and work in difficult conditions and under pressure;

Excellent spoken and written English; knowledge Luo an added advantage.
