Project Leader - Livestock Systems Evolution, ILRI, Nairobi, Kenya

ILRI seeks to recruit a Project Leader to lead its multi-disciplinary project on Livestock Systems Evolution within Targeting Research & Developing Opportunities Theme.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Ph.D. in Geography, Systems Analysis, Systems Ecology, Agricultural Economics, or other relevant discipline with a minimum of eight years post-doctoral experience, particularly in a developing-country context.
  • Strong analytical skills in one or more of the following areas: systems analysis, scenario analysis, spatial analysis, simulation modelling, and multi-market modelling.

  • Experience with applied systems research at global and/or local levels and in application of spatial tools such as GIS and remote sensing to inform practical decision making.
  • Experience in managing research budgets and a proven track record in developing successful proposals for donor funding.
  • Interpersonal skills and written communication skills, with a record of publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary research teams, build partnerships across ILRI Themes and at national and international levels.
  • Experience with analysis of livestock systems and knowledge of other international languages are desirable.

    Terms of appointment: Initial appointment is for three years with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon individual performance and the availability of funding.
