The department of Radiology of the Academic Medical Centre is looking for a PhD student who will be working on the development of abdominal MRI.
Recently the Radiology department has started a research project on molecular imaging of abdominal diseases.
Initially the focus will be on quantification of large bowel motion in volunteers.
These data will be used for implementing and optimising bowel motion correction for dynamic imaging of the bowel.
Furthermore the candidate will focus on the development of abdominal MR-sequences, e.g. MR contrast agent quantification and Dynamic Contrast Enhanced (DCE) MRI.
The department of Radiology is equipped with two 1.5 Tesla scanners and one 3.0 Tesla scanner.
In 2007 an open 1.0 Tesla scanner will be installed.
The research team consists of PhD students, physicists and radiologists.
The research will be carried out in collaboration with Philips Research and the department of Pathology of the VU Medical Center.
Requirements Required education/skills
The candidate should have a MSc degree in physics, biomedical engineering, biomedical imaging science or a closely related subject.
Prior experience in both scientific research and MR sequence programming is desirable.
We expect that the candidate is highly interested in doing research in a challenging medical research topic.
Good communication skills and an ability to work in teams are required
