PhD Scholarships in Business

At CBS Center for Corporate Social Responsibility (cbsCSR), Department of Intercultural Communication and Management, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark, two Ph.D. positions are vacant to be occupied from August 1st till July 31st .

The purpose of the 3-year research project on “Responsible Business in the Blogosphere” is to investigate how corporate reputations as “responsible business” are constructed and co-constructed on-line in virtual social networks.

Position 1:

Socio-economic value of on-line perceptions of corporate social responsibility

A Ph.D who will participate in an international and interdisciplinary team of social scientists and experts on mathematical modeling, to develop economic and social indicators of the value of on-line perceptions of corporate social responsibility using both qualitative and quantitative data.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in qualitative and quantitative social science methodology (including econometrics) and should have a background in social theory strong enough for him/her to take on a creative and productive role in an international and interdisciplinary team.

Position 2.

Corporate construction of CSR on-line: an empirical investigation

A Ph.D who will participate in an international and interdisciplinary team of social scientists and experts on mathematical modeling and conduct and analyze an empirical study of international corporations’ on-line construction of corporate social responsibility (CSR).

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in communication theory based in the social sciences, but also candidates with a background within the humanities will be considered.

The candidate should also have a background in social and management theory strong enough for him/her to take on a creative and productive role in an international and interdisciplinary team.

Application Guidelines:

  • To be awarded the scholarship, one must be enrolled as a PhD student.
  • To be considered for enrolment, the candidate should have a basic training at the Masters level, and must be fluent in Danish and/or English.
  • Enrolment in the PhD programme furthermore depends on the acceptance of the application, which must include a short project description, usually prepared in co-operation with the Department.
  • In addition to the research proposal, the application must include a completed compulsory form, copies of a Masters degree certificate or other certificates of a corresponding level, brief curriculum vitae (CV), a list of papers and publications, and one copy of a selected written work (e.g. Masters thesis).
  • All parts of the application must be submitted in four copies, except the selected written work, which may be submitted in only one copy.
  • Electronic submissions are not accepted.
