Academic supervision will be provided by Dr. Robert Raja (http://www.chem.soton.ac.uk/) and Industrial supervision by Dr Alan Levy at Honeywell (New Jersey, USA), who has extensive experience in organic synthesis, organometallic chemistry, and industrial organic chemistry with a major focus on nylon intermediates.
The successful applicant will join a collaborative research group and enjoy state of the art materials synthesis and catalysis facilities in the Structural and Materials Chemistry group at Southampton University.
In addition, the studentship will also facilitate access to sophisticated characterization techniques and high-throughput synthetic capabilities at UOP (a subsidiary of Honeywell based in Illinois, USA), one of the premier catalyst companies in the world.
Applicants should have a good degree in Chemistry and a keen interest in synthetic inorganic chemistry and catalysis.
