1. Ref. HR/2014/01: Chief Pharmacist - Job Group K1 (1 Post)

Job Purpose

The Chief Pharmacist will be responsible to the Senior Assistant Director, Pharmaceutical and Nutritional services for the provision of technical oversight as a specialist for the provision of pharmaceutical services to ensure improved quality and reliable service delivery to clients.

Key responsibilities

  • Establish effective teams to deliver quality clinical care and ensure good working relationships with other specialists.
  • To give technical oversight in the development of policies, manuals and procedures that guide decision making and implementation of pharmacy function at the Hospital.
  • Planning and implementation of departmental team activities.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the organizational strategic plan.
  • Provide technical guidance to the pharmacy team to translate the quality objectives.
  • Facilitate regular inspections and quality audits to ensure conformity with national guidelines and regulations.
  • Ensure technical oversight of implementation of pharmacy activities including Pharmacy inventory management and quality assurance, safe, reliable and quality medicines provision to clients.
  • Participate in planning and budgeting for drugs and pharmaceutical requirements for the Hospital.
  • Conducting research, teaching and examining students in the Hospital and in the adjacent institutions.
  • Effective supervision, training and development of staff.

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Masters in Pharmacy.
  • Bachelors of Pharmacy from a recognized university.
  • Proven experience of at least three (3) years in a large organisation as a senior Pharmacist.
  • Evidence of wide experience in drugs’ policies and laws.
  • Evidence of research and at least three (3) professional publications in reputable local or international journals on particular scientific findings/practices in the relevant field.
  • Registered with Pharmacy and Poisons Board
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in various MS office packages.

    2. Ref. HR/2014/02: Deputy Director (Nursing Sevices), Job Group K2 (1 POST)

    Job Purpose

    The Deputy Director (Nursing Services) will be to reporting the Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of nursing services at the Hospital.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and implement nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice and operational policies while maintaining compliance with National laws and regulations.
  • Communicate and interpret policies and procedures to nursing staff and monitor their practices and implementation.
  • Coordinate patient care activities in collaboration with nurse managers, administrative and other technical personnel in the Hospital.
  • Develop nursing standards and play a leading role in their implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Advice the Management and the Board on all nursing related policy issues.
  • Ensure that the planning and delivery of nursing services address and meet the changing needs of clients.
  • Evaluate the work performance of nursing personnel, participate in the recruitment, career development and discipline according to policies in operation.
  • Review 24-hour report from every unit daily to monitor and ensure timely and effective responses to significant changes in condition and care of patients that need special attention.
  • Collaborate with consultants, administrative and other medical staff to improve the quality of services to patients and to resolve identified problems.
  • Participate in the development and implementation strategic plans for nursing services.
  • Ensure that the staff in the division remain motivated to discharge their responsibilities effectively and efficiently.
  • Participate in the preparation of the Hospital budget and ensure proper utilization of allocated funds.
  • Prepare employees for the desired changes in working styles, attitudes and work ethics.
  • Spearhead culture change to improve the Hospital image.
  • Promote quality assurance activities leading to ISO Certification in the Hospital.
  • Prepare periodic reports as required by Management.

    Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelors of Science (BSN) degree in Nursing from a recognized University.
  • Masters degree in Nursing or its equivalent from a recognized University will be an added advantage.
  • At least three (3) post basic qualifications one of which must be in Public Health.
  • At least three (3) years service in a Management position at the level of Assistant Chief Nurse or above in a large Hospital.
  • Evidence of at least one (1) month training in general management.
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
  • Registration with the Nursing Council with a retention certificate.

    3. Ref. HR/2014/03: Medical Specialist II/I, Job Group K4/3 (Medicine (2 Posts), Oncology (1 Post), Orthopaedics (1 Post) & Radiology (2 Posts), Anaesthesia (1 Post)

    Job Purpose

    The Medical Specialist II/I will be responsible to the Chief Medical Specialist/Head of the respective Departments and will be expected to take full responsibility for patients under his/her care.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Performing clinical procedures and making decisions on patients’ management in the area of specialization.
  • Conducting regular Ward Rounds.
  • Responding to consultations from other clinical specialties.
  • Conducting specialist out-patient clinics.
  • Participating in assessment of patients as may be required by the Hospital Management.
  • Participating in research, teaching, training and supervising the performance of both medical and non-medical staff as well as post-graduate students.
  • Participating in preparation of annual budgets for the department.
  • Participate in Administrative activities of the department.

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Masters Degree in Medicine (MMed) or Surgery from the University of Nairobi or any other recognized University.
  • At least one sub-specialization in the respective specialty.
  • Proven experience of not less than three (3) years at the level of Medical Specialist.
  • Specialist Recognition and retention Certificate from the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board of Kenya.
  • Evidence of research and at least two (2) professional publications in reputable local or international journals on particular scientific findings/practices in the relevant field.
  • Interest or specialization in Neurology, Gastroenterology, Renal or Haematology is highly desired for Physicians and Paediatric or spine surgery for Orthopaedics.
  • Computer literate.

    4. Ref. HR/2014/04: Deputy Hunam Resource Manager -Training and Talent Management, Job Group K4, (I Post)

    Job Purpose

    Reporting to the Human Resource Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for effective management of the training function and delivery of training solutions to enhance the organizational talent.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Identify training needs through job analysis, appraisal, regular consultation with Managers and operational requirements.
  • Design and develop appropriate programmes based on the identified needs
  • Coordinate and facilitate the training programmes.
  • Liaise with external consultants and arrange for external training and /or facilitation.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of training programmes and continually amend the programmes to adapt to changing business needs.
  • Develop talent management programs and coordinate talents management calendar.
  • Ensure that coaching and mentoring program activities are in alignment with talents management program activities.
  • Ensure courses offered through the training school are accredited and meet the required standards.

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent qualification.
  • Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or its equivalent from a recognized university.
  • Post graduate qualification in Human Resource Management preferably Higher National Diploma in Human Resource.
  • Certificate in training of trainers.
  • Working experience of at least five (5) years in Training at a management level in a large organisation.
  • Must be conversant with human resource management information system.
  • Proven experience in Human Resource Training and Talent management is a definite advantage.
  • Must be a member of Human Resource professional body(IHRM)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills.

    5. Ref. HR/2014/05: Cheif Medical Engineer (Biomedical) - Job Group K4 (1 Post)

    Job Purpose

    The Chief Medical Engineer (Biomedical) will be responsible to the Deputy Director (Clinical Services) for the overall planning, directing controlling and coordinating biomedical services in the hospital.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Planning the requirements and purchase of biomedical equipment, spare parts and consumable items used on medical devices.
  • Professional and safe applications of biomedical instrumentation, installation, calibration and inspection.
  • Ensuring planned preventive maintenance (PPM).
  • Advising on technical aspects relating to biomedical equipment.
  • Repairing of general Biomedical and related technical equipment.
  • Developing Quality Assurance programmes for all biomedical workshops in the Hospital.
  • Preparing the expenditure estimates for the department.
  • Preparing reports on operations of the Unit.
  • Supervision, training and development of staff in the Unit.

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Medical Engineering and a Higher Diploma in Medical Engineering Technology.
  • Demonstrate Knowledge in practical and safe applications of biomedical instrumentation, installation, calibration, inspection, planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and repair of general Biomedical and related technical equipment.
  • Proven experience of at least three (3) years in the grade of Deputy Chief medical Engineer (Biomedical) or equivalent position in a large organisation.
  • Demonstrate wide knowledge and practical experience in the fields of Diagnostic Imaging, Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine, Physiotherapy, Dialysis (Haemodialysis, Peritoneal, and CRRT), Physiological monitors, Resuscitation, Electro-surgical units and Laboratory Medicine instrumentation.
  • Registration with Association of Medical Engineering of Kenya.
  • Computer literate.

    6. Ref. HR/2014/06: Chief Supply Management Officer I, Job Group K5 (1 Post)

    Job purpose

    The Chief supplies chain Management Officer I will be responsible to the Supplies chain manager for ensuring timely availability of required materials, goods and services at the most competitive value and terms and stores management.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Purchasing and stores management
  • Preparation & implementation of procurement and disposal plans
  • Supervision & appraisal of staff in areas of operation
  • Preparation of periodic reports to management
  • Enforcement of regulations procedures, & policies in supply chain function
  • Planning and co-coordinating the procurement/stock control and/or warehousing functions.
  • Preparing of expenditure estimates.
  • Review and updating of existing procurement regulations.
  • Advising on appropriate stock levels, defects and obsolescence.

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Masters degree in procurement or Supply Chain Management or its equivalent
  • A university degree in Economics, Commerce or Supply Chain Management
  • Possession of a post graduate diploma in Supplies Management from chartered institute of purchasing and supplies ( CIPS)
  • At least three (3) years experience at a management level in a large organization
  • Must be a registered member of a recognized body e.g. KISM or MCIPS
  • Must be conversant with Public Procurement and Disposal Act and /or regulations.

    7. Ref. HR/2014/07: Cheif Accountant I, Job Group K5 (1 Post)

    Job Purpose

    The chief Accountant I will be responsible to the Finance Manager for provision of quality accounting and advisory services.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Interpretation of financial policies as contained in Government circulars and in conformity with the Exchequer and Audit Act.
  • Formulation and implementation of Hospital financial policies and regulations.
  • Development and implementation of sound and effective accounting systems.
  • Budgeting and costing of Hospital activities.
  • Collection of Hospital revenue and disbursement of Hospital funds.
  • Maintenance of proper accounting records.
  • Participate in preparation of expenditure estimates for the department
  • Promoting the Hospital Occupational Health and Safety initiatives.
  • Preparation of reports on the operations of the section as required.
  • Effective supervision, training and development of staff.
  • Assessment of staff performance.

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Masters in Accounting, Commerce or its equivalent from a recognised University
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or its equivalent or CPA (K)
  • Three (3) years experience at a Management level in a large organization
  • Must be a registered member of ICPAK .
  • Computer literate

    8. Ref. HR/2014/08: Laundry Manager – Job Group K5 (1 Post)

    Job Purpose

    The Laundry Manager will be responsible to the SAD, Technical Services for the management, co-ordination and control of the laundry and tailoring services in the Hospital.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Establishing and maintaining procedures and standards to ensure high quality laundry and tailoring services.
  • Ensuring cleaning, distribution and safe storage of linen and garments.
  • Ensuring compliance to regulatory/statutory regulations by all staff.
  • Ensuring proper functioning and maintenance of all laundry machines and other equipment in the unit.
  • Preparation of the annual budget for the unit and ensuring proper utilization of allocation funds.
  • Overseeing the Inspection of fabrics, mending and fabrication of specialized items.
  • Preparation of reports on operations of the Unit.
  • Effective supervision, training and development of staff in the Unit.

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Hotel and catering Management or Hotel and Hospitality management or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Attended senior Management course or a Management course lasting not less than four weeks from a recognized institution.
  • Proven experience of not less than five (5) years managing laundry services at a senior level in a large organization, preferably a health institution.
  • Computer literate.

    9. Ref. HR/2014/09: Deputy Quality Assurance Manager, Job Group K5 (1 Post)

    Job Purpose

    The Deputy Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible to the Quality Assurance Manager for the implementation of quality assurance programmes and ensuring that quality systems are maintained in accordance with the ISO 9001:2008 Standards.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and organizing programmes to ensure delivery of quality services in the Hospital.
  • Participating in preparation of annual budget for the department and ensuring proper utilization of allocated funds.
  • Preparation of reports on quality related matters and activities in the Hospital.
  • Participating in quality assurance research activities.
  • Effective supervision, training and development of staff.
  • Assist in the development, implementation plus verification effectiveness of quality systems affecting all aspects of Hospital operations.
  • Responsible for reviewing & analyzing data, in order to recognize trends as well as opportunities for improvement/corrective action, by using process capability other statistical or quality tools.

    Qualification and Experience

  • Masters degree in Public Health or Health management
  • Proven experience of at least three (3) years in a managerial position in a large organization.
  • Degree or post graduate certificate in Quality Assurance will be an added advantage.
  • At least three (3) years experience as lead Auditor of quality management systems.
  • Computer literate.

    10. Ref. HR/2014/10: Assistant Chief Health Information Officer, Job Group K6 (1 Post)

    Job Purpose

    The Assistant Health Information Officer will be responsible to the Deputy Chief Health Information Officer for the implementation of health records and Information policies and guidelines.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice on disclosure, confidentiality, security and exchange of health records and information.
  • Analyzing Health records data.
  • Carrying out health records and information system review.
  • Designing medical and surgical indices.
  • Developing data quality audit tools.
  • Designing monitoring and evaluation tools.
  • Disseminating health Information.
  • Prepare medical records reports.
  • Maintaining Health records safety and confidentiality
  • Maintaining diagnostic and surgical indices.
  • Maintaining patient Master indices
  • Coding diseases and surgical procedures according to international classification of diseases and procedures in medicine.
  • Indexing diseases and surgical procedures.

    Qualification and Experience

  • Degree in Health record and information Management from a recognized institution.
  • Served in the grade of senior Health information Officer for a minimum period of three (3) years.
  • Masters in Epidemiology and demography will be an added advantage.
  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

    11. Ref. HR/2014/11: Medical Officer I, Job Group K6 (2 Posts)

    Job Purpose

    The Medical Officer I will be responsible to the Senior Medical Officer I for the contribution of patient satisfaction through the provision of timely and quality health care.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Provide quality emergency medical care service.
  • Manage a wide range of medical and health care services.
  • Provide health education and control measures for preventable diseases and injuries.
  • Carry out and implement research projects in collaboration with medical specialists.
  • Participation and ensuring efficient and effective management of resources
  • Provide formal and informal training to other health personnel.

    Qualification and Experience

  • A Bachelor of medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.Bch.B) degree from a recognized institution.
  • A current practising licence from the medical Practitioners and Dentists Board(Kenya)
  • A current retention certificate by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board(Kenya)
  • Basic life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) will be an added advantage.
  • At least one year post registration experience in an NHIF accredited health facility.
  • Computer Literate.

    12. Ref. HR/2014/12: Dental Officer I, Job Group K6 (1 POST)

    Job Purpose

    The Dental Officer I will be responsible to the Senior Dental Officer I for the contribution to patient satisfaction through provision of accessible, specialized quality Oral Health care services.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Provide quality Oral Health care services.
  • Carry out and implement research projects in collaboration with Dental Specialists.
  • Ensure efficient and effective management of resources.
  • Provide formal and informal training to other health personnel.

    Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelors of Dentistry from a recognised institution.
  • Current retention certificate from the medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
  • At least one (1) year post registration work experience in an NHIF accredited health facility.
  • Computer literate.

    13. Ref. HR/2014/13: Safety and Security Services Officer I, Job Group K8 (1 Post)

    Job Purpose

    The safety and security officer I will be responsible to the Safety and Security Services Manager for the overall safety and security of Hospital property, staff, clients and administration of security unit.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Planning, organizing, coordinating and controlling security activities in Hospital.
  • Enforce rules and regulations of the Hospital.
  • Contact law enforcement or emergency service providers when appropriate.
  • Ensure that proper discipline is maintained in the security unit.
  • Provide detailed written reports of incidents that occur.
  • Supervision of staff in the unit.

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have served in the grade of security officer II or equivalent for at least three (3) years.
  • Have demonstrated capability in handling security matters
  • Undergone a six (6) weeks approved security course at C.I.D training school or its equivalent.
  • A Diploma in criminology or its equivalent will be an added advantage.
  • Computer literate.

    14. Ref. HR/2014/14: Medical Physcist III, Job Group K8 (2 Posts)

    Job Purpose

    The Medical Physicist III will be responsible to the Medical Physicist I for the provision of radiation services.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Treatment planning of cancer patients.
  • Carry out radiation dosimetry work.
  • Supervise radiographers performing both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for cancer patients.
  • Administration of radioactive drugs to patients undergoing diagnostic or therapy under a specialist’s prescription.
  • Ensure radiation safety at work.

    Qualification and Experience

  • A Bachelor of Science in Physics or Engineering, Medical Physics, Health Physics from a recognised institution.
  • Registration by the Radiation Protection Board.
  • Three(3) years progressive experience in a busy hospital

  • Computer Literate.
