Epicentre is a non profit organization created in 1987 by Medecins Sans Frontieres, which groups health professionals specialized in public health and epidemiology.

Epicentre recruits for the position of:

1. Laboratory manager- Maradi, Niger

  • Check the daily progress of bacteriological and directs technicians for further diagnosis.
  • Interpret laboratory findings and refocuses on scorecards of patients to be sent to department management.
  • Inform medical staff if necessary biological results that reveal an emergency
  • Respect the confidentiality of results and ensures that 'it is respected by the entire team of the laboratory.
  • Defines the conditions for good freezing and conservation of the biobank in collaboration with the logistics department
  • Provides and supervises the preparation of samples and shipments of strains.

    Management of laboratory staff

  • Prepares and updates job descriptions of laboratory personnel.
  • Participates in the recruitment of new technicians, in cooperation with coordination.
  • Organizes work schedules and approves leave of staff of the laboratory.
  • Supervise the work of the supervisor laboratory.
  • Facilitates contacts within the team and holds regular meetings with her.
  • Conducts individual assessment interviews.

    Training and capacity building

    For laboratory technicians:

    1. Organizes and provides practical and theoretical training to technicians as needed, in collaboration with technical references

    2. Ensures the maintenance of knowledge and skills of technicians and to update their skills o Identifies and provides external training.

    Inventory Management

  • Ensures the regular updating of the tools of inventory management
  • Ensure the safe storage of reagents and consumables.
  • Under the supervision of the medical coordinator and technical expert of the seat, ensure the implementation of International orders related to the operation of the laboratory;
  • Valid applications for supply by buying locally.

    Quality and hygiene

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining the quality assurance system of the laboratory.
  • Supervise the implementation of quality control of culture media, antibiotics and reagents and check their validity.

    Organization and collaboration

  • Work closely with technical references (reference laboratory and bacteriology consultant) for the implementation of standard operating procedures according to the study protocols and interpretation of biological results.
  • Write a progress report on a monthly basis.
  • Participates in the preparation of reports and publications related to school.
  • As part of partnership agreements with outside organizations (CERMES, NMCP, Forsan, power supply, etc..) participates in exchanges on various aspects of biology medical attention.

    Candidate profile

  • Doctor of Medicine or Pharmacy specializes in Medical Biology / or experienced Laboratory Technician
  • Experience in Human Clinical Bacteriology essential
  • Professional experience in Africa required
  • Experience in team management required
  • Knowledge of epidemiology desirable
  • Sense of organization and good communication skills
  • Fluency in French
