Joint Aid Management (JAM) is a South African founded registered non-profit humanitarian organisation that has been expanding its expertise in relief and sustainable development in Africa since.

JAM is seeking to recruit:

1. Extension Health HNE Specialist

Main duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and support on programme strategy in nutrition and programme/project design
  • Facilitate training, synthesis, documentation and sharing of experience/learning within the organization and programs
  • Assist with identifying needs for and help manage or provide technical support to field in the region on nutrition
  • Help develop internal organisational TOT training and development of tools/guidelines/standards to improve programme quality
  • Ensure that activities are consistent with current JAM strategies and policies, including agency program quality standards.
  • Coordinate closely with other regional and headquarters based technical advisors to disseminate information requests from country programs and to share with HQ lessons learned from programming in other regions.
  • Mentor, build capacity of key technical staff and contribute to improved recruitment and retention
  • Actively engage in regional level and wider nutrition networks with key institutions/agencies academic, UN and NGO) and other networks
  • Participate in recruitment for technical health and nutrition positions in countries
  • Actively participate in/engage with government, partners, development agencies in technical forums and strategic planning meetings
  • Participate in concept and proposal development as necessary

    Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have at least a master’s degree in a field related to nutrition or health, with an intense interest on obesity and disease prevention.
  • An Africa background or successful long-term in under-served African communities work experience is highly preferred.
  • Candidates must have effective oral and written communication skills, strong planning and organizational skills, ability to work independently and as a member of an educational and research team, proactive and self-motivation qualities requiring little direct supervision, an understanding of non-profit international development organizations, a driver’s license and willingness to undergo training.

    2. Managing Director

    You may be required to perform duties not specifically stated in your job description from time to time provided that such duties are related to JAM global operations.

    Key skills/competencies:

  • English is essential Any one of the other 11 official languages is preferred
  • Computer literacy at an intermediate level
  • Minimum Degree in business, social development or any other relevant field
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Minimum 10 years in Senior Management – preferably in the NGO industry
