The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) is a statutory body established under the Accountants Act, 2008 for the regulation of the profession of accountancy in Kenya.

The Institute is seeking to recruit top notch quality candidates to fill the following position:

Assistant Manager, Training & Development

Deputizing the Manager Training and Development, the assistant Manager shall assist the department in fulfilling the various roles as described below.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Continuing Professional Development Calendar (CPD) for ICPAK members
  • Plan and run ICPAK branch Continuing Professional Development events
  • Source, coordinate and run in-house trainings for corporate clients
  • Represent the department in various meetings internal and external to the organization
  • Co-plan and co-supervise major events with the Training Manager
  • Research and develop training programs and contents

    Academic and Professional Qualifications

  • Possess a first degree in Accountancy or Finance from a recognized university
  • CPA qualification or other qualification in training and development is a mandatory requirement
  • An advanced degree in business related field will be an added advantage

    Experience

  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in Accounting, Public Finance or Training
  • Must be able to demonstrate good planning, organizing, and coordinating skills
  • Must be computer literate and well conversant with current developments in ICT
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and report writing skills
  • Should be well conversant with accounting standards
  • Should be a self starter and go getter
  • The ability to work effectively under time pressure and constraints without close supervision

    Senior Officer Compliance and Standards

    Job responsibilities:

    Reporting to the Manager, Standards, the senior officer shall undertake the supportive role of responding to all accounting standards including full international financial reporting standards (IFRS and IFRS for SMEs), international public sector accounting standards (IPSAAS) international auditing standards (IAS), international accounting education standards (IAES), Financial Reporting Compliance and FiRe Award.

    Academic and Professional Qualifications

  • First degree in Accounting (Minimum Upper Division) from a recognized university
  • Fully qualified CPA with ICPAK membership or eligibility to join membership prior to employment

    Experience

  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in accounting and/or auditing
  • Knowledge of various International Financial Reporting Standards and International Auditing and Assurance Standards
  • Must be computer literate and well conversant with current ICT
  • Good communication skills
  • Good research and analytical skills

    Officer, Compliance and Standards

    2 Positions

    Reporting to the Assistant Manager Audit Quality Assurance, the officers shall be expected to undertake the supportive role of ensuring that audit firms in Kenya comply with the standards as prescribed by the International Audit & Assurance Standards Board, International Accounting standards Board, IFAC and International Ethics Standards Board.

    Academic and Professional Qualifications

  • First degree in Accounting (Minimum Upper Division) from a recognized university
  • Currently pursuing CPA qualifications having completed Section 4.

    Experience

  • Minimum 2 years relevant audit experience preferably in external auditing
  • Specialised in the Audit Quality Review Framework
  • Knowledge of various International Auditing and Assurance
  • Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Must be computer literate and well conversant with current ICT
  • Good communication skills
  • Good research and analytical skills

    Training and Development Officers

    2 Positions

    Reporting to the Assistant Manager Training and Development the officers shall assist the department in the implementation of the Continuing Professional Development Calendar, in-house trainings and other events for ICPAK members.

    Academic and Professional Qualifications

  • Possess a first degree preferably in Accountancy or Finance from a recognized university
  • CPA (K) is an added advantage

    Experience

  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience in Accounting, Public Finance or Training
  • Must be able to demonstrate good planning, organizing, and coordinating skills
  • Must be computer literate and well conversant with current developments in ICT
  • Very good interpersonal, communication and report writing skills
  • The ability to work effectively under time pressure and constraints without close supervision
