Google's Map Maker Global Competition (the "Contest") is designed to promote the creation and improvement of base maps using Google Map Maker.

To enter the Contest, entrants can add new information to a map, or edit or moderate existing information on the map.

Add the most universities, schools, hospitals and medical clinics with high quality into Google Map Maker, and your efforts will win $50,000 for UNICEF's work empowering young people through technology in your homeland.

You will get a VIP tour from UNICEF officials of the local projects in your country that will benefit from the $50,000 donation.

Will also invite you to attend, all expenses paid, the Google Super Mappers conference.

A prize will be awarded to the individual who submits the best entry, as determined by the judges.

The Contest is open to individuals who are at least 18 years old or above the age of majority in the country, state, province or jurisdiction of residence.

Residents of Sudan, are not eligible to participate.

The winner will receive two trips:

  • An all-expense paid trip to a VIP tour from UNICEF officials of a local UNICEF project in the Entrant's country of residence.

    The particular project will be selected once the winner is selected, and will be a project assisted by a donation given by Google to UNICEF in the winner's name.

  • An all-expense paid trip to the Google Super Mappers 2010 conference.

    Prizes will include;

  • Round-trip airfare (coach) for the winner to travel from the major airport closest to the individual’s residence to the locations for the two trips (location for the first trip will vary based on the Entrant's country of residence);
  • Double-occupancy hotel accommodation for up to three nights in each location;
  • Food;
  • Transportation. If a winner does not claim one or both of the two prizes, the prizes will not be awarded.
