Goldschmidt  Travel Grants

Goldschmidt Travel Grants program provides financial support to qualified students and delegates, regardless of country , to enable them present their research at various conferences around the world.

Availability and Amount of Support:

The program anticipates student awards of 770€, with final number of awards dependent upon funding.

Application Process:

The application form requires the applicant to upload three one-page .pdf files which will be combined with the application form and the faculty advisor's recommendation letter (if submitted) into a single .pdf file.

This file is what the review committee will use in determining merit.

Neither the Travel Grant Program administrators nor the Goldschmidt organizers shall be held responsible if an application is incorrectly submitted.

Determination of Merit:

A review committee shall examine each application and assign a ranking to the application. The criteria examined are the applicants:

  • Application form, including financial need figures;
  • Curriculum vitae;
  • Abstract;
  • Brief essay on broader impact and significance of research;
  • Advisor's Letter of Recommendation.

    Judging Criteria:

    For the Advisor's Letter of Recommendation:

    Inadequate (0): Letter of recommendation was not submitted.

    Adequate (2): Letter of recommendation was submitted.

    Good (3): Letter indicates strong support for the applicant.

    Exceptional (4): Letter indicates exceptional support for the applicant.

    Distribution of Funds:

    Awardees will be issued a registration code which they may apply against their registration fee, including optional extras.

    The balance of an award will be available for pickup at set times and locations during the Conference.

    Funds will be distributed as a check in Euro unless otherwise specified on the application form.

    Available options are either a check in US Dollars or as cash in Swiss Francs.

    Post Conference Survey:

    Awardees will be required to participate in a post conference survey that rates their experience with the program, with the conference and seeks ways to improve both in future years.
