APOPO trains rats to save lives. We are a social enterprise that researches, develops and disseminates detection rats technology for humanitarian purposes. We are a registered Belgian NGO, with our headquarters in Tanzania.

APOPO seeks to recruit a:

1. Communications Manager

Key requirements:

  • BA or MA in Communications, Public Relations or equivalent
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Native English speaker, with some knowledge of Swahili – or a strong commitment to learn
  • Donor relations and fundraising experience
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector
  • Writing, editing and proof-reading skills
  • Media relations experience
  • Website CMS & e-commerce systems knowledge
  • Skills in database management and analysis
  • Strong IT knowledge
  • Cross-cultural communication skills and cultural sensitivity
  • Extraordinary patience, flexibility, independence, strong organizational skills, and a sense of humor

    1. Program Manager - TB Operations

    Key requirements:

  • Relevant university degree:
  • MD with specialization in Laboratory Techniques
  • MSc / PhD in Biomedical Sciences
  • 3-5 years field experience in health care & development operations
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in conducting health related development programs
  • Fluent in English & preferably Portuguese
