Job Purpose

To design and develop user‑facing components of systems supporting health, nutrition, commodity tracking, and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL). The role focuses on building intuitive, responsive, and accessible interfaces that integrate seamlessly with backend services and APIs, enabling efficient data visualization and user experience.

Description of Duties

A. Front‑End Application Development

  • Develop responsive, user‑friendly web applications for health, nutrition, commodity tracking, and MEAL systems.

  • Build interactive dashboards and interfaces for data visualization and reporting.

  • Ensure compatibility across devices and browsers.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and scalable front‑end code using modern frameworks.

    B. UI/UX Design

  • Design intuitive interfaces that simplify complex data and workflows.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate user needs into functional designs.

  • Ensure accessibility and usability for technical and non‑technical users.

  • Apply best practices in UI/UX design for data‑heavy applications.

    C. Integration with Backend Systems

  • Integrate front‑end applications with backend APIs and services.

  • Ensure efficient data retrieval and display from multiple sources.

  • Handle asynchronous data flows and real‑time updates.

    D. Data Visualization & Reporting Interfaces

  • Develop dynamic dashboards and visualization tools for MEAL frameworks.

  • Implement charts, maps, and other visual components for health, nutrition, and supply chain data.

  • Ensure clarity and accuracy in presenting indicators and outputs.

    E. Application Performance & Optimization

  • Optimize applications for speed, scalability, and performance.

  • Ensure efficient rendering of large datasets.

  • Conduct testing and debugging to maintain quality.

    F. Platform Operations & Support

  • Collaborate with DevOps on deployment and updates.

  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolving issues.

  • Ensure secure handling of user interactions and data.

    G. Documentation & Knowledge Management

  • Maintain front‑end documentation, component libraries, and user guides.

  • Contribute to system documentation and knowledge management.

    H. Collaboration & Technical Support

  • Work closely with Backend & DevOps Engineer, IMO, SME, and stakeholders.

  • Support users by improving usability and functionality.

  • Contribute to continuous system improvement.

    Requirements

    Education

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, HCI, Data Science, or related field.

  • Postgraduate studies in AI or Data Science (asset).

  • Certifications in AWS, GCP, or Azure (advantage).

    Languages

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).

    Experience

  • Minimum 6 years’ professional front‑end development experience.

  • Proven experience leading complex web applications.

  • Strong experience with modern frameworks (React, Next.js, Angular, Vue.js).

  • Experience integrating front‑end with APIs and backend services.

  • Experience with data visualization tools, dashboards, and analytical interfaces.

  • Practical design awareness and ability to guide UI direction.

  • Hands‑on UI/UX design experience (wireframes, prototypes, design systems – advantage).

  • Experience with design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch – advantage).

  • Experience using AI‑assisted tools for design and development (advantage).

    Skills

  • Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.

  • Knowledge of responsive design, accessibility, usability, and performance optimization.

  • Ability to translate complex workflows into intuitive interfaces.

  • Experience with Git, code reviews, testing tools, and collaborative workflows.

  • Understanding of CI/CD, cloud environments, and deployment processes (advantage).

  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Ability to work independently and provide senior‑level technical guidance.
