How do I apply to be a volunteer in Kenya? How long is the application process?
To volunteer with us, complete the online application at: Volunteer in Kenya: Application Form
Our projects manager will review your application and get back to you as soon as possible. This should not take more than a week or two and likely less.
Once your application has been reviewed and accepted, you will need to follow through on other preparations such as booking your flights and taking the necessary immunizations. The length of time before you to come to Kenya will be determined by how long these preparations will take.
Make sure your documents are in order (valid passport etc). See a travel doctor and have all required immunizations.
Once you finalize on your flight itinerary, you will need to email us your flight details, so that we make arrangements for airport pick up. Include the name of the airline, flight number, time of arrival and city of departure.
Airport pickup details will then be emailed to you and you will be met on the day of arrival. Our program dates are flexible and you can arrive and depart on any date.
In brief, the steps to take are:
1. Fill in our application form and email your CV.
2. Get suitable flights for the dates you want to come.
3. Get any vaccinations you want - no vaccination is mandatory. We recommend Yellow fever, Hepatitis A & B, Tetanus, Typhoid and anti-malaria tablets.
4. Fly over - you will be picked up at the airport, be taken to the volunteer house/host. Orientation will follow and finally visit to the project.
