WUSC Consultant - Communications Support Jobs in Kenya

  • The consultant will lead in the design of the training manuals and developing dissemination content from mainly program reports and other sources as advised.

  • Support the KEEP team to ensure continuous generation of content to highlight KEEP development work in Dadaab and Kakuma.

  • He/she will follow through on communication related tasks geared towards content generation and dissemination.

  • The purpose of this assignment is to design and deliver concise dissemination materials from project reports and support the design of communication materials for varied project audiences.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Specifically, the consultant/s would be responsible for the following:

  • Support in designing of WUSC’s training manuals

  • Prepare concise dissemination content from reports; producing short promotional videos to promote ongoing work

  • Social media support generating content for social media posts for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram under the direction of the WUSC MEAL and communications team (photos, videos, and infographics) that increases share of voice and engagement about the KEEP project.

  • Compile and review information packs with relevant content.

  • Support photography and video–during meetings/ training/workshops. Maintain photo archive on Chorus and Flickr.

  • Content creation Working closely with the KEEP team and Communications team to generate content to showcase impact on the ground;

  • Helping with other communications tasks as assigned by the Project Officer.


    The Key Deliverables for the consultancy are as follows:

  • Implement approved communication strategy

  • Develop creative and impact communication materials to disseminate and promote the work of KEEP

  • Support drive social media presence

  • Assist in the preparation and provide quality assurance for presentation materials for internal and external audience

  • Participate in KEEP dissemination workshops, as and when required.

  • Well-designed manuals based on WUSC’s specifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or related field.

  • At least 5 (five) years of experience required.

  • Experience in social media management, photography and video/documentary production

  • Fluent in English and Kiswahili.

    Functional Competencies

  • Expert knowledge of video production; proficient in Adobe's Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator software, HTML and other web design applications.

  • Experience in communication strategies for different audiences

  • Knowledge of education management structures in refugee settings in Kenya

  • Ability to interpret reports
    produce high quality communication materials and design products in a timely manner

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and produce high quality outputs

  • Demonstrate integrity by modeling WUSC’s values and ethical standards and safeguarding policies

  • Displays cultural gender, religion, race nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability
