WUSC Consultant - Classroom Observation Jobs in Kenya

  • WUSC – World University Service of Canada – is a leading Canadian non-profit organization in international development, committed to providing education, employment and empowerment opportunities that improve the lives of millions of disadvantaged youth around the world.

  • In consultation with the WUSC team, the consultant/s will lead classroom observation with support of senior teachers in KEEP schools and provide post-training follow-up on pedagogical practices including data collection.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct classroom visits to KEEP schools and remedial centers to support pedagogical practices

  • Support teachers by giving feedback on areas of improvement

  • Data collection on specific aspects of pedagogy

  • Remit Data to WUSC and WIK for consumption


    The Key Deliverables for the classroom observation are as follows:

  • Classroom observation report.

  • Lesson observation data


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education or Social Science

  • At least 10 years’ experience in education sector in Kenya

  • Experience in classroom support

  • Basic data collection skills

  • Strong English communication and writing skills;

    Functional Competencies

  • Familiarity with of refugee education landscape in Kenya

  • Experience in conducting classroom observation in similar contexts in primary and secondary schools

  • Knowledge of education management structures in refugee settings in Kenya

  • Proficiency in use of basic computer applications

    Core Competencies

  • Ability to produce high quality outputs in a timely manner while understanding and anticipating evolving teachers and clients needs

  • Strong organization skills

  • Ability to work independently and produce high quality outputs

  • Sound judgement, strategic thinking and the ability to manage competing priorities

  • Demonstrate integrity by modeling WUSC’s values and ethical standards and safeguarding policies

  • Displays cultural gender, religion, race nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability
