  • Uunzi is an early stage, UK start up that has recently launched in Kenya.

  • Uunzi is an online tech innovation community and marketplace that connects people to tech solutions, apps, start-ups that are local to them.

  • The aim of the business is to connect technology creators to people and people to technology.

  • Currently we have launched within the fintech market in Kenya, where we showcase a range of services to our users including loans, payment services, blockchain and fundraising/crowdfunding.

  • We are looking for a part time Business Development Assistant to build our profile on the ground and support in onboarding new and exciting innovations within other sectors.

  • The role is a great role for an entry level candidate who is professional, results-driven, motivated and a self-starter.

    Key responsibilities and tasks include

  • Build relationships with start-up communities, iHubs, incubators and accelerators in Nairobi and other cities

  • Monthly user-testing of users to support in the website development/ app development

  • Build relationships with start-ups, tech creators in Nairobi and onboard on them on to the website.

  • Set up meetings with start-ups to explain what the business does and how it can bring value to their business

  • Onboarding the start-ups on to the website, setting up the partnership program

  • First point of contact for any queries from onboarded start-ups or companies interested.

  • Creating and sharing our posters, banners & leaflets

  • Attend networking events, meet ups, conferences, start-up communities

  • Able to present information clearly to both small and large groups

  • Finding opportunities to pitch our services to start ups

    Essential Desirable Qualification

  • A degree in business or any related degree or alternatively, have strong business/entrepreneur experience Skills
    Strong writing skill

  • Experience of building partnerships – developing and maintaining successful working and business relationships with stakeholders and clients Proven ability to engage and influence at senior level

  • Understand start-up culture, able to encourage start-ups to sign up/ launch their businesses on our website

  • Experience working for a start up

  • Entrepreneurial spirit


  • Experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform and entice

  • Results orientated with the ability to set and meet targets and to report against them.

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, the ability to present information in a clear manner appropriate to the audience, and deliver presentations to large audiences.

  • Proven track record for generating revenue through new business development

  • A practical understanding of sales pipelines and the sales lifecycle.

  • The ability to start relationships, nurture leads, negotiate, and close sales

  • A proven track record for driving user acquisition and new business leads
    Prior knowledge in the fintech sector
    Strong graphic design skills

  • Able to create posters, banners and leaflets

    Key things to note – Remote working post

  • Must have access to internet

  • Quiet place to take meetings.

  • Will be managed from abroad, using skype or other video/ audio application

  • Please note that this post is a part time, remote working only so you must be able to work from home.

  • This is a new role so the selected candidate will be able to make it his/her own.

  • As we are a small start-up still at bootstrapping phase, the monthly net salary is between KES 20K- 30K per month negotiable, but with hope to raise the salary post- funding.
