U.S. Embassy Kampala Lead Carpenter Jobs in UgandaSummary The U.S. Mission in Uganda is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Lead Carpenter.
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, this position is responsible for creating, developing, and repairing wood works at the Chancery as well as other locations as necessary.
Incumbent supervises a staff of six carpenters to ensure that make-ready residences are completed on time and all aspects of the carpentry shop are maintained in a safe and clean environment.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Completion of secondary school both “O” and “A” level is required.
Three years of journeyman carpentry experience is required; an additional two years of progressive responsibility in managing journeyman carpenters.is required.
Must have a good technical understanding of carpentry and woodworking systems and equipment.
Knowledge of U.S. building, trade, construction, fire and safety codes and standards is required.
Level III (Good Working Knowledge) spoken/written of English is required.
Skills and Abilities
Must be able to use all tools of the trade; must be able to use Microsoft Office Suites; must have a valid driver’s license. Lifting techniques; and basic keyboard skills is required.

A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant.
The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain
the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date;
the character of service.
Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment
