US Embassy DREAMS Journeys Plus Curriculum Technical Trainer of Trainers Jobs in Uganda

  • Peace Corps is an international autonomous agency of the US Government with operations in over 60 countries.

  • It operates in Uganda by the invitation of the Government of Uganda.

  • Peace Corps Uganda has memorandum of understanding with government ministries that outline broad areas of agreement of cooperation regarding the work of Peace Corps Volunteers in Uganda.

  • Volunteers are assigned to government and non-government agencies and organizations, community based organizations, universities, colleges and schools who partner to enable Volunteers to provide capacity building in Education, Health and Community Agribusiness.

  • Peace Corps also aims to build cultural understanding between Americans and Ugandans

    Basic Functions of the Position

  • The incumbent will plan, train and evaluate participants in accordance with Peace Corps and U.S. Government requirements as well as Feed the Future requirements at a training venue where accommodation and meals will be catered for.

  • The expected working Hours are from 8 am to 6 pm, including lunch and breaks, Friday – Saturday, Friday Sept 11 and Sunday Sept 12 being TOT days for the technical facilitators.

  • Two extra days following the training added on for report writing and another for briefing.

  • The actual days will be authorized in advance in writing by any of the following Peace Corps staff: Health Program Manager or Training Manager or HIV/AIDS Coordinator.

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities

    Area of Expertise

  • Design Journeys Plus model session plans and deliver them to the Peace Corps staff and any other selected host country nationals using appropriate techniques and methodologies;

  • Design low cost Journeys Plus training materials.

  • Conduct sessions to adult participants with various technical backgrounds, experiences and cross cultural setting.

  • Make daily participant assessments and adjust session plans according to the additional learning needs identified.

  • Experience in training on Journeys Plus DREAMS Curriculum to adults

  • Perform daily check-ins for the participants to gauge their learning progress

  • Share overview of the curriculum, present model sessions, receive constructive feedback from the participants.

  • Support participants to prepare, present mock sessions and give appropriate feedback.

  • Using expertise in training to impart cultural knowledge about Adolescent girls to participants during formal sessions.

    Training Design/implementation

  • Prepare at least three (3) Journeys Plus model session plans during three day TOT and deliver
    the same to participants during the week of training.

  • Design appropriate training materials from locally available materials to enhance learning.

  • Aligning session contents to Peace Corps program context through close collaboration and guidance from the Health Program Staff and Training Manager.

  • Prepare training toolkit for each of the participants.

    Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain a soft copy file of session plans, presentations and any other relevant literature;

  • Submit a brief end of training report to Peace Corps HIV/AIDS Coordinator detailing the general overview of the training, what has been covered, what needs improvement, and the subsequent trainings;

    Team Member

  • Participate in team building activities designed to develop team spirit and responsibility;

  • Attend meetings as scheduled

  • Share individual talents and expertise with colleagues and participants.

  • Field support to participants (Approximately 3 hours for 1 day)

  • Support participants where necessary during experiential visits to a DREAMS site implementing Journeys Plus Curriculum.

  • Ensure site visit activities are run as planned.

  • Support participants relate the classroom and field experience.


  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Peace Corps HIV/AIDS Coordinator or the Training Manager or Health Program Manager.

    Qualification and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree formal training is required.

  • ToT Certification in Journeys Plus DREAMS curriculum is required.

  • Knowledge on Stepping Stones DREAMS curriculum is added advantage

  • Experience in adult training and community development is required.

  • Good interpersonal and cross-cultural skills desired

  • Excellent communication skills in English and at least one of the following Ugandan language (Luganda, Runyolo/Rutoolo, Runyankole/Rukiga, Lumasaaba, Luo, Lusoga, Lusamia) are required.

  • Experience conducting similar training with any of the US agencies or its Implementing Partner(s) is required

  • Good judgment and problem solver

  • Management and supervision experience and / or aptitude
