Standard Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled in the university and have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies; currently enrolled in a graduate programme (Master's degree) from a recognized university; or have graduated from a university undergraduate or graduate programme within the last 6 months preferably in Social Sciences, Disaster Management, Agriculture, Range Management, Development Studies, Environmental Science, or other related field.
Fluent in English (both oral and written) is a must; knowledge of a second UN language, preferably French, would be an asset
Full proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
What you will do:
Act as the Focal Point for the Emergency Preparedness and Response Package (EPRP) for the Bureau. Key tasks include following up with Country Offices to update the Checklists (MPAs, ERAs) Contingency Plans, and the Risk Register.
Work with the EPR team at the regional Bureau to support the capacity strengthening of Country Offices to effectively implement Emergency Preparedness and Response activities, as well as the EPRP tool, by regularly disseminating relevant information.
In collaboration with all Regional Bureau units and Country Offices, assist the EPR team with the establishment of an operational plan to respond to crisis in the region, through the reviewing of Concept of Operations and IR-PREPs etc.
Produce and contribute to the preparation of briefs, presentations and reports on the regional Emergency Preparedness and Response activities.
Conduct desk research, reviews and analyses of key documents relating to Emergency Preparedness activities and the Emergency Response to the crises in the East Africa region.
Support in the synthesis and production of regional contextual risks in the East and Central Africa region. Also support in the identification of risks and mitigating measures internal to our operations, including those related to protection, accountability, and data protection and privacy.

Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP depending on the duty station of assignment (i.e. Nairobi)
