United Nations Programme Management Officer (Finance and Budget) Jobs in Ethiopia

    Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Senior Programme Management Officer Mission Support Planning Section (MSPS) of the Institutional and Operational Partnership Service (IOPS) and in coordination with to the Department of Field Support / Office of the Assistant Secretary-General, the Programme Management Officer:

    • Develops, implements and evaluates assigned programmes / projects in areas of field support for new and ongoing African Union peace operations. These areas include: supply chain management, materials management, transportation, maintenance, contracts and services management, communications, information technology, engineering, medical services, administration, procurement, finance, budget and human resources
    • Monitors and coordinates multi-functional support requirements including field support advice between UN Headquarters, the African Union and AU peace support operations, including coordinating information updates and analysis on mandate implementation, cross-cutting developments, military and police force requirements, deployment plans and performs other duties as required
    • Conducts programme / project development, implementation, monitoring and assessment; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies priorities, problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties, including African Union senior management; identifies and initiates follow-up actions
    • Provides field support advice including research and programme evaluation and presents information gathered from diverse sources

    Education

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics or a related field.
  • A first level university degree with a combination of two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

    Work Experience

  • A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration, logistics operations, or related area is required.
  • Experience in administration-related areas such as human resources, finance, budget, logistics planning, telecommunications, is desirable.
  • Experience in Finance and Budget is required.
  • Experience in policy development and facilitation and coordination of multi-stakeholder planning processes is desirable.

    Languages

  • English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat.
  • For this position, fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
