United Nations Human Settlements Programme Social Media Consultant Jobs in Kenya




Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule and publish approved content across LinkedIn, X, Instagram and Facebook. Manage day‑to‑day channel activity, ensuring timely posting and active audience engagement.

  • Serve as community manager for the Executive Director’s social media accounts. Monitor and moderate comments, intervening as appropriate to answer questions and guide conversations.

  • Produce engaging multimedia content — including graphics, stories, reels, and written posts for the Executive Director’s social media channels.

  • Research trends and posts from partners and suggest reposts.

  • Collaborate with social media focal points across the organization as needed.

  • Assist with maintenance and updating of a social media editorial calendar for the ED, identifying campaign opportunities, key events, milestones, and humanitarian anniversaries.

  • Collaborate with the on‑ground team to ensure all content aligns with ongoing campaigns and communication goals.

    Qualifications / Special Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, digital marketing, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience managing social media channels.

  • Stellar social copywriting and editing skills required.

  • Ability to translate technical and nuanced information into clear, emotional, and engaging content for broad audiences desirable.

  • Experience using social media
    scheduling tools desirable.

  • Experience using design tools such as Canva and Adobe Suite desirable.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask desirable.

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and content creation desirable.

  • Ability to create engaging written content and monitor audience engagement desirable.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with a virtual team desirable.

    Languages

  • English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat.

  • Fluency in oral and written English required.

  • Knowledge of another UN official language desirable.
