United Nations Human Settlements Programme Driver Jobs in Kenya;UN‑Habitat is implementing the EU Operational Support to the IGAD Platform, a regional programme covering Ethiopia, South Sudan, Sudan, and the IGAD region. In South Sudan, the programme supports climate‑resilient, inclusive, and sustainable development solutions for displaced and host communities. To strengthen implementation in Northern Bahr el Ghazal, UN‑Habitat seeks a Driver to provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation and logistical support for official travel, field missions, stakeholder engagements, and programme activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive UN‑Habitat vehicles safely for staff and consultants on official duty.

  • Provide transportation support for field missions, meetings, workshops, trainings, and monitoring visits.

  • Transport project materials, supplies, equipment, and documents.

  • Ensure timely pick‑up and drop‑off of authorized personnel.

  • Support field teams during community engagements and programme activities.

  • Maintain vehicles in clean, roadworthy condition through daily inspections and preventive maintenance.

  • Monitor fuel, tyres, brakes, battery, and report mechanical faults or incidents.

  • Coordinate servicing and repairs per UN‑Habitat fleet procedures.

  • Maintain accurate logs, mileage, fuel, and maintenance records.

  • Ensure vehicle registration, insurance, and licences remain valid.

  • Equip vehicles with required safety and emergency equipment.

  • Comply with traffic laws, UN security requirements, and safeguarding standards.

  • Deliver
    and collect official correspondence and provide logistical support.

    Qualifications & Experience

  • Secondary school education required.

  • Valid South Sudan driving licence required.

  • Minimum 5 years’ professional driving experience.

  • Experience driving 4WD vehicles in rural/field environments desirable.

  • Experience supporting UN, humanitarian, or donor‑funded projects desirable.

  • Knowledge of traffic regulations, road safety, and basic vehicle maintenance required.

  • Defensive driving training or auto mechanics certificate desirable.

  • Basic computer and email communication skills desirable.

    Languages

    Fluency in English required; knowledge of local South Sudanese languages desirable.
