United Nations Environment Programme Project Management Officer Jobs in Kenya;mThe Project Management Officer will coordinate the implementation of the Innovative Finance for the Amazon, Cerrado and Chaco (IFACC) initiative, a partnership between UNEP, The Nature Conservancy (TNC), and the World Economic Forum (WEF). The initiative aims to deliver systems‑level change in commodity markets to ensure food production no longer drives deforestation or habitat conversion.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination
Monitor project implementation, identify difficulties, and initiate remedial action.
Prepare and review project documents, reports, and procurement requisitions.
Coordinate recruitment of experts and ensure timely completion of actions.
Arrange project completion and finalize documentation.
IFACC Initiative Leadership
Coordinate catalytic capital and agricultural transition finance activities.
Ensure timely delivery of UNEP’s responsibilities.
Manage UNEP staff and consultants with clear workplans.
Travel as needed to engage stakeholders (governments, finance institutions, agri‑food companies, NGOs).
Collaborate with partners to unlock catalytic capital for agricultural transition.
Donor Engagement & Reporting
Maintain communication with donors on delivery, challenges, and achievements.
Ensure timely substantive and financial reporting.
Liaise with UNEP finance team for compliance with IPMR and Umoja systems.
Seek synergies with other UNEP Climate Finance Unit projects (RSCF, RCF, Restoration Factory).
Geographic Expansion
Coordinate recruitment of experts to assess expansion to Sub‑Saharan Africa and South East Asia.
Liaise with partners and donors on findings and decisions.
Data Analysis
Collect and analyze data to identify
trends and provide insights through visualization tools.
Competencies
Professionalism – Expertise in sustainable finance, agricultural supply chains, and project management.
Planning & Organizing – Clear goal setting, prioritization, and risk management.
Communication – Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications
Advanced degree in Sustainable Finance, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Business Analytics, or related quantitative fields.
First‑level degree with 2 additional years of experience may be accepted.
Training in data analytics or data science desirable.
Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in sustainable finance, agricultural supply chains, private sector engagement, or project management.
At least 2 years at the international level required.
Experience with private finance institutions required.
Experience engaging corporates in agricultural supply chains and UN entities desirable.
2+ years in data analytics desirable.
Languages
English required.
French desirable.
