United Nations Environment Programme Information and Knowledge Management Intern Vacancy; The overall objective of UNEP’s Ecosystems Division is to support countries in conserving, restoring, and sustainably managing terrestrial, freshwater, and marine ecosystems, the biodiversity they contain, and the products and services they provide for human well‑being and prosperity.
This internship is linked to the front office at the Director’s Office, Ecosystems Division.
Under the supervision of the Senior Programme Management Assistant and the Deputy Division Director (second reporting officer), the intern will support the following tasks:
Support the reorganization and optimization of the front office SharePoint/OneDrive filing structures.
Assist in document tagging, version management, naming conventions, and archiving in line with UNEP/UN standards.
Support migration of documents from older systems or folders to new, structured digital repositories.
Support staff with troubleshooting and effective use of Teams, SharePoint, Planner, and other M365 applications.
Support preparation of presentations, visuals, and documentation for the Director’s internal meetings.
Assist with logistics and set‑up of meetings.
Maintain updated contact lists for the Director’s Office.
Participate in training and learning opportunities provided to interns by the United Nations.
Qualifications / Special Skills
Applicants must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements:
Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
Have graduated with a university degree in Information Technology, Business Information Technology, Management Information Systems,
Computer Science, or a related field.
Additional requirements:
Demonstrate pleasant interpersonal skills.
Ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, with tolerance of differing opinions and views.
Keen interest in the work of the United Nations and personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
Strong skills in Information Technology are required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office productivity tools for managing workflows, such as Microsoft Power Platform, is required.
No professional work experience is required; however, field of study must be closely related to the internship type.
Applicants should explain how their training, education, coursework, or skills will benefit UNEP during the internship (e.g., communication, digital content, multimedia work, writing for websites, managing social media, contributing to newsletters or blogs).
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
For this position, fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of another UN language is an added advantage.
