United Nations Environment Programme Communications and Knowledge Management Intern Jobs in Kenya


United Nations Environment Programme Communications and Knowledge Management Intern Jobs in Kenya; Support UNEP’s Global Peatlands Initiative (Phase II) in communications and knowledge management. Assist in protecting peatlands as the world’s largest carbon stock, while enhancing synergy with the broader Biodiversity, Landscapes and People Unit’s knowledge management portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Update and enhance the GPI Knowledge Management tracker, fact sheets, and resources for speeches, presentations, and briefing notes.

  • Draft content for UNEP‑peatlands web pages, GPI website, partners hub, online communities, and social media channels.

  • Write news articles or blogs on peatlands restoration, conservation, ecosystem services, carbon finance, biodiversity, and climate change.

  • Assist with preparations for GPI Steering Committee meetings and partnership events.

  • Organize ad hoc meetings, workshops, and teleconferences; prepare agendas, summaries, and minutes.

  • Provide communication liaison within the GPI Partnership and with external stakeholders.

  • Undertake other tasks as required, aligned with intern’s interests and experience.

    Qualifications & Special Skills

  • Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme (Master’s or higher), or final year of a first university degree
    (Bachelor’s or equivalent).

  • Background in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Policy, Biodiversity & Conservation, Development Studies, or related field.

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.

  • Ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

  • Demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to its Charter.

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.

    Languages

  • Fluency in English required.

  • Fluency in French and/or Spanish desirable.
