Key Responsibility Areas

Vision Implementation

  • The DGM has to work closely with the GM to implement the vision with great passion, coupled with building of capabilities on the ground. He /She has to develop concrete business plans to support the vision. The business plans should take into the account the organic growth within the business and develop new initiatives wherever there are synergistic opportunities.

    P & L Responsibility

  • The DGM should work closely with the GM to help organize the resources and drive the company’s topline and bottom line on a month to month, quarter to quarter and on an annual basis.

    Plant Management

  • The incumbent will along with the GM be required to manage the current manufacturing facility covering all aspects of production, logistics, and cost. Drive standards, follow health and safety requirements and ensure Quality Assurance to Global standards.

    Capex Plans

  • Leadership on CAPEX plans in conjunction with the GM. Establish capability to support marketing in ensuring the Company’s products provide innovation and excitement.

    Building Organization Capabilities

  • While the business side of the equation will be pursued in line with the vision and business plans, DGM should assist the GM to build the organization capabilities and key talent to support aggressive growth ambitions.

  • DGM should help develop a plan to introduce, train and grow Tanzanian’s in the business.

    Integrate Corporate Responsibilities

  • While finance, sales, marketing and technical operations are the core of the business; The DGM should assist the GM on legal, corporate communication, compliance, investor relations and social responsibilities. The aim is to maintain the Company as a high-performance company and at the same time as a responsible social enterprise.

    Working with the Board

  • Understands the organization’s requirement for governance practices and supports the GM and the Board in its governance duties by providing necessary information and access to people. Build a strong working relationship with the Board Chair and the Board of Directors.

    Financial Management

  • Has a solid, up-to-date understanding of the organization’s income statement, balance sheet, cash flow and other financial measures relevant to its business and financial situation. Understands the concept of value creation and makes decisions with the GM on where to allocate resources based on maximizing value to the organization.

  • Review financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions. Ensures that the organization’s financial records are accurate and up to date.

    Desired Candidate Profile

  • Preferably an Engineering graduate with a post graduate degree/diploma in business management from a leading business school or a Chartered Accountant with experience of running a manufacturing business in a senior position.

  • Must be a well-rounded professional from a continuous process industry with a minimum of 3 - 5 years in a similar role out of a total experience of 12-15 years.

  • Must have the ability to command the respect and loyalty of the team.

  • Ideally possesses revenue responsibility experience which includes direct development of a vision and business strategy.

  • Experience of
    having worked in trying conditions with organically grown organizations (as contrasted to large MNCs)

  • While possessing demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, opportunities and engagements, the ideal candidate has demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and motivate teams – the incumbent must be a team player possessing a strong ability to “listen & learn” from the success and experience of other (i.e., Knows when to lead - Knows when to follow).

  • In addition to having demonstrated strong leadership skills, the successful candidate is a bright, engaging, articulate, and highly motivated person possessing the capacity to directly assume ownership where needed and get the job done.

  • Must possess an excellent personal team building, coaching, mentoring, and sales management skills, the incumbent will drive, train, and mentor the team’s ability to assume a leadership position.

  • Ability to build goal congruence with the organization and its members.

  • Strong business relationship with various client group and good negotiation and conflict management skills. Ability to work with diverse group of people and manage cross cultural teams.
