Job Summary/Purpose

  • The investment manager – special programs will be responsible for the development and implementation of suitable interventions which
    have a high development impact to the youth, Women and Microenterprises.

  • Such programs should be aligned to the bank’s strategic objectives and the Uganda National Development Plan III.

    Accountability Statement

  • The investment manager special – program is accountable for establishment, development, management and sustainable growth of the special programs business in the bank across the priority sectors of Government.

  • In executing this mandate, the role holder
    will develop, grow and profitably sustain investments in the respective programs in line with the Bank’s Policies, the environment
    &social risk Management Framework and the Bank’s strategic focus.

    Principle Duties and Responsibilities

    The role owner will be responsible for;

  • Developing a suitable policy framework, investment strategies, fundable pipeline building, credit appraisal, relationship
    management, monitoring and evaluation among others.

  • Development of appropriate policies, strategies, and procedures
    for the respective programs.

  • Supporting and guiding the investment dept regarding execution of the assigned programs.

  • Conducting feasibility studies to support in the development of suitable solutions for the targeted groups.

  • Marketing the assigned program and build a sustainable pipeline targeting the special programs. Including generation of new
    business leads through sourcing for new fundable projects within the target groups.

  • Managing stake holder relations relating to the special programs including development partners, donors, government, civil
    society among others to enhance bank relations with such stake
    holders.

  • Support the Fund raising process to build a good financial resource base for the programs.

  • Managing relationship with existing and prospective customers in the special programs.

  • Initiating and leading customer outreach and sensitization activities for target clients in the bank.

  • Provision of business advisory services to the target clientele.

  • Undertaking continuous market intelligence/survey and provide
    recommendations on significant developments.

  • Reviewing trends regularly within the assigned market space and identify emerging opportunities, risks and proactively
    implement appropriate solutions/ mitigants.

  • Designing new products and innovations viable and relevant to the needs of the clients.

    Subject

  • Undertaking initial investment analysis and appraisal of proposals submitted to the Bank and make recommendations
    to the respective teams.

  • Ensuring compliance with the bank’s credit risk management policy and the credit procedures manual

  • Conducting regular monitoring of all investments in the portfolio
    and provide periodic reports for management.

  • Provision of credit risk supervision, including the monitoring of borrower performance, credit risk grading of each loan in the portfolio (at least annually/in accordance with the credit risk
    management policy) and where appropriate, recommend corrective actions to ensure adherence to credit policy.

  • Conducting regular site visits to ascertain the state of borrowers and determine the appropriate assessment of the credit risk
    rating.

  • Provision of periodic budget monitoring reports to the bank teams to guide in decision making with the aim of meeting
    institutional expectations.

  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    Level of Authority

  • Contact customers &prospective customers on behalf of UDB

  • Review of documents and provide technical advice to management on issues relating to the assigned sector and responsibilities

  • Key external stakeholders including business associations, bank customers and prospective customers.

    Requirements

    Qualification

  • A good degree in business or any other related field of study from a from a recognized university.

  • Relevant post graduate degree such as MBA or master’s in finance.

  • Possession of professional qualifications like, ACCA, CFA and others is an added advantage.

    Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years similar or relevant experience in a large financial institution or development bank, preferably
    engaged in long term funding or project financing; of which three (3) should be at middle management level.

  • Proven track record and experience in successful investment, appraisal, analysis and implementation is required.

  • Experience in special projects related to the youth, women and micro investments finance is an added advantage.

  • Ability to operate effectively across organizational boundaries and work as a team to meet strict timelines
