Trade and Development Bank Senior Coverage Officer Jobs in Kenya; Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer – East Africa, the Senior Coverage Officer will develop and maintain client relationships, originate quality deals, and promote TDB Group’s solutions across the region. The role requires strong strategic insight, transaction origination skills, and effective stakeholder management to drive growth and impact.

Key Responsibilities

Client Origination & Relationship Management

  • Lead origination and customer relationship management within assigned geography.

  • Define and execute country, sector, and customer strategies.

  • Identify customer needs and originate new business leveraging TDB Group’s capabilities.

  • Initiate and lead strategic discussions with customers, bringing in product partners to execute proposals.

    Transaction Management

  • Deliver customer revenues while managing compliance and credit risk.

  • Engage with credit, legal, compliance, and portfolio teams to identify and mitigate risks.

  • Prepare applications for the New Deal Forum, participate in term sheet negotiations, and support transactions to financial close.

  • Oversee client onboarding and portfolio monitoring.

  • Track deal closure in collaboration with product teams.

    Governance & Strategy

  • Participate in annual budget development and pipeline planning.

  • Review and assess internal policies to ensure governance and compliance.

  • Help design and implement East Africa coverage strategy aligned with TDB priorities.

    Market Intelligence & Leadership

  • Establish and maintain professional networks to collect market intelligence.

  • Conduct market research and
    analysis to identify new opportunities.

  • Champion TDB’s brand, values, and conduct standards.

  • Mentor coverage officers and share knowledge.

    Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Banking, Finance, Economics, or related field.

  • Relevant professional qualifications an added advantage.

    Experience & Competencies

  • 8–10 years’ professional experience in a DFI, commercial bank, or private equity firm.

  • Proven track record in originating, structuring, and executing transactions.

  • Experience in bank debt, trade finance, capital markets, or corporate finance for sovereign and non‑sovereign clients.

  • Strong credit analysis and financial modelling skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

  • Results‑oriented with strong organizational and decision‑making skills.

  • Commitment to development, innovation, and TDB’s mission.

  • Fluency in English required; French or Portuguese an advantage.'
