Job Purpose

  • This role is responsible for executing the sourcing process including supplier identification, negotiation and supplier selection. They are also accountable for the vendor contracting process, including amendments, service requests and addendums and work orders.

    Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities


  • Analyse, identify and recommend go to market strategy for sourcing events (risk and value driven) Based on business needs and when new needs arise, search for potential suppliers within preferred supplier lists, and identify additional suppliers if not on preferred supplier lists through market analysis. Conduct negotiation and supplier selection and support the responding suppliers in case of commercial issues. Draft and execution of the commodity strategy.

    Financial Management

  • Perform a cube analysis on all commodities being managed. Develop a cost savings model with the relevant sourcing portfolios and ensure that cost reduction is the key driver in the commodities being managed. Ensure that cost reduction targets are exceeded within commodities responsible for. Ensure that a substantial amount of procurement spend is channelled to companies in the local market. Perform trend analysis of buying patterns and analyse sourcing reports produced from spend analytics.

    Organisation Design

  • Approval of bank documents as may be prescribed by the LLA and as delegated by the procurement manager


  • Proactively develop relationships with key external stakeholders including key suppliers to ensure Stanbic Bank receives appropriate co-operation when required. Build and develop relationships across the firm with various stakeholders with the intention of breaking down silos to maximise business growth. Hold primary relationship with clients and handle all
    aspects of client interaction.


  • Develop a category approach by analysing category data and reviews with stakeholders. Manage implementation of the category strategy including the coordination of projects and stakeholders. Conduct market research monitoring category indices and market changes. Manage contract changes and negotiations in line with the category strategy. Provide input into category purchasing process where required.

  • Risk, Regulatory, Prudential & Compliance:
    Responsible for the implementation and adoption (within Procurement) of all compliance, Anti- Money laundering and Sanctions related requirements contained in policies, procedures and processes. Ensure compliance to Group policies and legal regulations across the procurement process.

  • Ensure that all outsourcing arrangements that are considered material or critical are supported by materiality and risk assessments before onboading.

    Preferred Qualification and Experience

    First Degree:

  • Purchasing and Procurement or

  • BCom Accounting/Finance.

    Other Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certifications or professional memberships.

  • Professional procurement and supply chain qualification e.g. MCIPS, MKISM.

  • Membership to a professional body.


  • 3-4 years in procurement and sourcing.

  • Experience in a banking environment is desirable.
