    Job Purpose

  • To drive the commercialisation of the platform business, identifying and engaging collaboration partners, technological development specifications and new customer groups through continual and extensive networking, cross functional leadership and testing, rating and implementing appropriate options (including partners, technology and customer advancement) in the interest of driving growth and virality of the platform business. This includes implementation of risk and governance frameworks.

    Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

    Strategy

  • Develop a multifaced platform business partner strategy, in collaboration with business leaders, that will support and enable the commercialisation and drive virality and adoption of the platform business, as well as the creation of value through multiple ecosystems, contextualizing the strategy for the territory and various role players in question as appropriate.

  • Develop ecosystem specific business playbooks and draft goals and metrics to identify processes and accurately define the intention and success factors of the platform.

  • Develop the pricing strategy and pricing models for the platform business, aligning these to platform objectives of scaling and virality and consider non-traditional revenue sources (such as advertising, monetisation of data, etc.)

  • Review the performance and commercialisation processes of new or continued product development, partnering opportunities and customer engagements in order to identify the best scaling and commercialisation opportunities for optimum growth.

    Client

  • Own and drive the identification, growth and retention of the different role players which includes, producers, partnerships, merchants, and end users (clients).

  • Develop robust platform business engagements strategies that will lead to the virality and large-scale adoption and commercialisation of the platform by the different role players.

    Financial Management

  • Jointly own and drive the income statement and balance sheet for platform business.

  • Control and optimise the financial management of the unit, including profitability, financial viability, and growth for the business unit, reviewing, and monitoring the cost efficiency of each partnership and process.

    People

  • Drive the project management and execution of the various work streams according to agile delivery principles, supporting team members in the identification of training requirements, cross functional collaboration opportunities and guiding/ coaching team members to support success of the platform business.

  • Follow appropriate human resources processes in the management, support and development of subordinate(s).

  • Drive the alignment of the platform goals and objectives with the overall country and business unit goals to ensure success.

  • Empower, motivate, and reward platform team member performance.

    Product

  • Continually strive to enhance ecosystems and optimise value for the different partners, customers, and the bank.

  • Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to complementary possible products and service opportunities that resonate with users and add value to the platform business in support of the related growth strategy, liquidity, and other requirements. Identify and engage appropriate partners (whether
    these be producers, merchants or technology partners and others) in the interest of contracting with them to enhance the commercial value of the platform.

  • Identify and lead cross functional collaboration with existing bank units to execute the platform mandates and objectives.

  • Identify possible collaborations or developments that would support the scaling, virality and commercialisation of the platform, guide the team to test these according to agile principles so that successful options can be rapidly scaled, amendments or rejections can be made to unsuccessful possibilities.

  • Collaborate with segment and product heads and other appropriate stakeholders to identify the most appropriate partners, support targeted ecosystems and guide the development of the playbooks to steer ecosystem players, partners, producers, merchants to address pain points, align commercial levers, define use cases and demonstrate ecosystem viability.

    Technology & Architecture

  • Solicit and lead strategic partnerships with potential technology solution partners to be integrated into the Platform.

  • Drive the viability assessment of identified development opportunities. Guide and support the development team and technology partners to deliver the most appropriate platform technology and functionality set according to agile development principles (delivery), commercialisation and scale.

  • Drive the operational excellence principle adopting best practice for the platform business creating a coherent link between people, processes, and technology.

    Risk, Regulatory, Prudential & Compliance

  • Guide and support the development and consolidation of an approval and/or decision rights framework appropriate to the platform business, drive accountability and track decision-making according to agile principles to enable speed of execution, testing and roll out.

  • Collaborate closely with governance functions of the bank to maintain most appropriate governance, risk, and cyber security practices, with special consideration to cross-border processes, exchange control and cyber-crime risks and frameworks.

  • Identify additional governance bodies and representatives required for platform processes, based on the addition of partners, services and customer offerings and growth of the platform.

  • Draft and gain approval for the implementation of platform interdepartmental service level agreements/standards to execute platform business mandate and objectives through other business units, considering the time sensitivity of platform processes.

  • Advise and guide partners, merchants, and agents to comply with regulatory requirements.

  • Address and close out internal, risk or regulatory findings within defined timeline, engaging team members as required.

    Minimum Qualification and Experience

    Qualifications

  • Business Commerce Degree.

  • Business Commerce Masters Degree.

  • Information Technology.

  • Post Graduate Degree.

    Experience

  • More than 10 years Experience in business management, combined with deep technical experience in the digital field, with evidence of trial and failure being harnessed to improve work procedures Business Management.
