  • St Andrew’s School, Turi is highly respected in Kenya and regarded as one of the leading international schools in East Africa. Numbering 550 pupils, it comprises two semi-autonomous schools: a Preparatory School of circa 220 pupils between the ages of 3 and 13 and a Senior School of circa 330 pupils between the ages of 13 and 18.

    Job Summary

  • About the Role Reporting to the Finance & Strategy Director, this position is responsible to ensure the school’s supplies are procured in a cost effective & timely manner.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree inBusiness or equivalent.

    • Member of Supply Chain Association.

    • Masters in BusinessManagement or equivalent.

    Knowledge

    • A demonstrable understanding of
    theprinciples of supplychain / procurement bestpractices.

    • IT systems proficient.

    • A commitment topromoting andsafeguarding thewelfare of children.

    • Understanding of widersupply chain / procurement benchmarks within Kenya and worldwide.

    Experience

    • 5+ years’ experience asa people manager insupply chain orprocurement.

    • A track record ofsuccess in meetingsupply chain /procurement KPIs.

    • Ability to train staff toachieve KPIs.

    • Demonstrated ability towork effectively in amulticultural team.

    • Ability to take initiative toidentify opportunities andtake appropriate action,organize and managemultiple priorities, workunder pressure and meetdeadlines.

    • Proven ability to lead andmotivate teams andindividuals without beingtheir line manager.

    Responsibilities

    The Procurement Manager’s KPIs include:

    Planning:

  • Procurement planning (annual)– a term in advance.

  • Vendor pre-qualification (annual)- a term in advanceo Succession planning & review (annual).

  • Absence / leave planning (annual).

    Lead times:

  • Per annual procurement plan.

  • Max 1 mo for Ad hoc requests.

    • Cost management-annual (YoY) cost savings (benchmark to be provided).

    • Surveys (termly): assure effective quality & lead-time expectations management.

    Team health (termly):

  • Strategic planning & effectiveness o Individual & team wellness planning & review.

    • Systems: embedding & evolution.

    Required Skills

  • Budgeting, financial planning, Auditing of accounts, Logistics planning and management, Supply and demand planning, Enterprise Resource Planning - ERP system (use of), Procurement, Purchasing, Cash management (company), Stock and inventory management, Accounting IT-systems (use of).
