Curriculum education, wishes to fill the following position in the School from May, 2020.
The School comprises two semi-autonomous Schools: the Preparatory school for pupils between of ages of 3
– 13 and the Senior School for pupils between the ages of 13-18.
The Procurement Officer is a whole school appointment and is responsible to the Procurement Manager.
S/he will work closely with the Procurement Manager to ensure the effective and efficient procurement of works, services and goods as well as preparing tender requests for quotations, floating and assessment and
recommending suppliers with the aim of ensuring that the School gets value for its money.
Liaise with the other departments on their procurement requirements and also ascertain supplies specifications as may be required.
Prepare detailed tender specifications and performance standards to facilitate procurement of goods, works and services in compliance with procedures and regulations.
Conduct the annual supplier performance appraisal and facilitate procurement audits
Organise for the convening of a procurement evaluation committee to analyse and evaluate quotations tenders including implementation of tender committee awards and follow up on delivery of goods and attending project meetings.
Ensure timely and quality supply of goods and services as per prescribed standards and in line with the tender specifications.
Prepare minutes to the tender evaluation committee and extracts for implementation by the user divisions.
Conduct vendor appraisal by seeking feedback and visiting suppliers including the management of contracts with suppliers in conjunction with user departments and coordinate supplier negotiations.
Support the Head of Department in updating the procurement manual.
Coordinate the annual prequalification exercise by preparing tender documents, drafting of adverts, issuing of tender documents to bidders, opening and evaluation of the tenders and be the custodian of bid documents, bid bonds and samples presented.
Personal & professional attributes
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in procurement, business administration, supply chain management or related field.
Member of KISM; and or a professional qualification in procurement such as CIPS
At least three years’ relevant experience in the procurement role in a busy environment.
Good understanding of procurement practices
Good analytical skills.
