Curriculum education, wishes to fill the following position in the School from May, 2020.
The School comprises two semi-autonomous Schools: the Preparatory school for pupils between of ages of 3 – 13 and the Senior School for pupils between the ages of 13-18.
The Procurement Manager is a whole school appointment and is responsible to the Finance Director.
S/he will work closely with the Finance Director to ensure the effective and efficient management of the supply of products and services as well as coordinating the overall procurement of goods, works and services.
Lead the sourcing process and design specific tendering strategy in line with the procurement policy guidelines including tendering, negotiating and awarding the contract; managing the supplier and
stakeholder relationships; and developing the evaluating criteria and evaluating the bidder
responses; running bidder clarification workshops, managing the contractual process to award of contract and change; developing supplier risk plans and liaising with other colleagues as appropriate;
Responsible for the development and implementation of the procurement plan to ensure all procured goods, works or services are within the approved budget;
Manage supplier approval process through the application of a thorough qualification process;
Managing the supplier and stakeholder relationships and negotiating supplier agreements;
Ensure that the approved supplier list, spend analysis, market testing and best practice are shared within the School are actively used;
Ensure resolution of issues related to vendor performance in delivery of goods and services.
Negotiate with suppliers on behalf of the School to obtain the best possible purchasing terms and conditions;
Ensure ongoing monitoring and evaluation of vendors through supplier performance metrics and proactive management of the results. Manage supplier non-conformance and supplier audit;
Ensure best practice frameworks are in place to deliver value for money, and be able to identify and secure savings for the school across a number of areas of expenditure;
Monitor compliance with corporate procurement policies and standards, code of conduct, operating guidelines and local regulations. Ensure buy-in from all colleagues to facilitate compliance management through use of regular and management information reporting.
Lead the process of monthly assurance gathering to ensure there are controls against risks materialising
Ensure monthly reporting of procurement-related risks to the Finance Director
Support teams with the planning of expenditure and ensures that a good knowledge of procurement, and their application, is maintained by all staff,
Implement the audit recommendations from both the internal and external auditors.
Develop the department’s human resources by enhancing professional development, performance evaluation and training.
Personal & professional attributes
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in procurement, business administration, supply chain management or related field.
Member of KISM; and or a professional qualification in procurement such as CIPS
At least eight years’ relevant experience in managing the procurement function in a busy commercial environment.
Experience in contract management
Experience in supplier and stakeholder relationship management;
Experience in designing, implementing and embedding supplier relationships and contract
management strategies with all contracts.
Good understanding of procurement processes
High proficiency and outstanding knowledge of electronic spreadsheets
Excellent financial analysis skills;
Excellent analytical, technical, IT and numerical abilities.
