  • SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation.

  • The organization started its humanitarian work with the opening of its first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974.

  • The organization has been providing life-saving provisions such as food, water and health services for a very significant number of children devastated by severe drought and the subsequent famine.

  • Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and are at risk of losing their parental care.

  • We are looking for a National Project and DCM Manager who will be responsible for coordinating the overall implementation of the Innovative Training Partnership For More Employment Project and drives the project in line with the “Vision, Mission, Values”, strategies, policies and plans of the SOSCVE, government legislation and donor requirements and agreement.

    Your role

    As a National Project and DCM Manager, you will be in charge of the following:

  • Designing strategies to deliver the result areas of the project in consultation with all relevant stakeholders;

  • Advising and supporting field staff and implementing partners in the implementation of project activities;

  • Working with the partners and micro finance institutions to design strategies to increase youth access to finance;

  • Providing content wise guidance to project staff in planning, budgeting, and reporting of project interventions.

  • Partnering with National HROD unit to assess capacity gaps and facilitate capacity building trainings to project staffs;

  • Ensuring knowledge exchange between program locations implementing the project

  • Assisting the Project MERA coordinator and filed staff in designing and developing tools to ensure sound data quality and monitoring of project deliverables;

  • Designing, promoting, and/or implementing training curricula and capacity building activities that take into account the needs of female youth

  • Ensuring that gender
    considerations are incorporated into all youth assessments and activities

  • Promoting gender equality in the implementation of the project

  • Ensuring that reports make explicit reference to approaches used to address unequal gender relations and ensure that youth data are disaggregated by gender

  • Leading the preparation of quality reports as required by donors and counterparts,

  • Assisting in the identification of potential partner organizations for and preparation of MoU for effectively implementation of the project;

  • Maintaining and establishing contacts among local partner organizations and government offices, private sector and others

  • Joining relevant networks, forums, platforms, campaigns, working groups and advocates on behalf of the organisation that mainly work for youth empowerment;

  • Assisting the development of terms of reference for seeking consultancy engagement;

  • Leading evaluation of proposals submitted by consultancy firms/individuals;

  • Supporting program locations in the periodic budget preparation, utilization and revision.

    The must haves

  • B.A. in Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, development studies or other relevant field.

  • Minimum 5 years working experience for MA/MSc degree holders and 7 years for BA/BSc degree holders

  • Experiences in working with youth empowerment program/projects

  • Excellent command of English, written and spoken

  • Experience in project management, planning, monitoring and evaluation

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and employability

  • Awareness and understanding of social development issues including gender, education, youth skill training.

  • Understanding of human resource development
    Strong networking, partnership and interpersonal skills.

  • Understanding of micro business and value chain business development

  • Experience in budget development and knowledge in financial management

  • High level of communication skills

  • Ability to work under high pressure

  • Positive and professional approach: highly organised, results oriented, using initiative and keeping commitments

  • Computer literacy (MS Office and MS project)

  • Experience in community mobilization

  • Knowledge of national policy developments in the area of youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and employability.

  • Knowledge of project cycle management
    Willingness to travel frequently

    The Pluses

  • MA/MSc in Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, development studies or other relevant field.

  • Prior experience working in INGO

  • Driving licence (optional)
