Save The Children Uganda Project Manager -Food Security & Nutrition Jobs

  • The Project Manager will provide the overall management oversight of the SCI improved secure access to nutritious and safe food for agropastoral households in Karamoja sub-region. The FSN Project Manager will be responsible for the budget management, oversight of the human resources and project progress and performance for effectiveness and efficiency. S/he will be responsible for internal and external coordination of the project with the project stakeholders to ensure adequate and effective participation, ownership, resource optimization and support for the project in the district and the community.

  • Reporting to the Regional Area Manager, the FSN Project Manager will provide oversight of the livelihood and nutrition intervention streams of the project. S/he will play the role of leading the project team to deliver high quality project results with adequate capacity development. S/he will build and use sustainable relationships and networks to support the project, provide innovative solutions to adapt and succeed in Karamoja context and working environments, and apply technical and professional expertise to promote and share best practices in the project implementation. S/he will ensure working collaboratively to achieve shared goals and integrated programme delivery for universal child benefit, engage and influence; promote dialogue and ensure timely and appropriate messages, building confidence and trust with the project stakeholders; and build and use sustainable relationships and networks to support the project in Karamoja.

    Experience and Skills


  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Agricultural Science, Food Science and Technology, Food Production Systems, post graduate training in project management, Monitoring
    and Evaluation, Public Health, Gender etc. will be of added advantage.

  • At least 5 years’ progressive experience in Food security and Nutrition programme, Livelihood programme.

  • Ability to speak the local language is an added advantage.

  • Experience of working with local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance, Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added advantage.

  • Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.

  • Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.

  • Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.

  • Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must.

  • Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.

  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

  • Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.

  • Excellent time management and planning capacity.
