Samaritan's Purse Chief of Party Jobs in Ethiopia ; Provide leadership and oversight for all program activities and staff under a multi‑sectoral emergency award funded by the United States Department of State. Ensure effective program implementation, budget management, compliance with donor regulations, and strong stakeholder engagement while maintaining the organization’s mission to serve people in Jesus’ name.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Oversight

  • Monitor achievement of project goals and direct operations.

  • Manage budget spending, mitigate challenges, and supervise staff.

  • Ensure project activities comply with international and Samaritan’s Purse standards.

  • Assume overall responsibility for effective work plan implementation.

    Financial Management & Compliance
  • Manage grant budget within approved spending levels.

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to donors and headquarters.

  • Maintain compliance with donor rules and regulations.

    Stakeholder Engagement
  • Discuss plans and strategies with government authorities, UN agencies, humanitarian actors, and partners.

  • Represent Samaritan’s Purse in coordination forums.

    Field Oversight
  • Conduct regular visits to project sites.

  • Provide staff support, address programmatic challenges, and explore future program opportunities.

    Staff Supervision
  • Directly supervise 5–10 non‑supervisory employees and 2 supervisory employees.

  • Interview, hire, train, and appraise staff performance.

  • Plan, assign, and direct work; reward and discipline employees; resolve complaints and problems.

    Other Duties
  • Carry out additional assignments
    as required.

    Requirements for Appointment

    Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university.

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Twelve credit hours of college‑level Biblical Studies preferred but not required.

    Experience
  • Previous experience managing United States Government funding and/or multi‑million‑dollar grants.

  • Thorough knowledge of procurement, inventory software, and Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Access).

    Skills & Competencies
  • Ability to establish rapport and develop relationships with stakeholders, vendors, customers, and colleagues.

  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.

  • Ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems.

  • High ethical standards and commitment to Samaritan’s Purse mission.
