Job Summary

  • The Regional Finance Specialist is responsible for providing day to day accounting support to the Regional office.

  • This position will responsible for payment processing to staff and vendors, support with month end accounting responsibilities, and provide temporary support in the absence of a full-time Project Finance Manager.

  • The position will also provide support for internal and external audit activities.

    Essential Duties

  • Record financial transactions into QuickBooks accounting software.

  • Process payments to the vendors, consultants, subcontractors and staff, and reconcile accounts monthly.

  • Support process for employee travel advances and expense report settlements. Ensure adherence to policy by verifying accuracy and completeness.

  • Provide support to internal and external auditors.

  • Provide support to the Regional Finance Manager in compiling and submission of the monthly financial reports package.

  • Prepare relevant journal vouchers in a timely manner to address monthly financial reporting compliance issues raised by the Regional Office/Compliance team.

  • Perform month end accounting responsibilities using QuickBooks. Ensure expenses are booked correctly, all transactions are supported with proper and complete supporting documentations as per International Accounting Supporting document matrix.

  • Provide temporary support to projects in the absence of a full-time Project Finance Manager.

  • Support Regional Controller in tracking and monitoring statutory tax and social security compliance and regulation within the African

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

    Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of experience or master’s degree and 3+ years of experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills with an ability to be flexible
    Work well under pressure in a multi-cultural environment

  • Ability to work well in a team environment

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to travel on short notice

  • Experience supporting accounting functions in multiple countries within Africa

  • 6+ years of relevant work experience in a busy finance department.

  • Proficient in Advanced MS Excel, MS Word and power point presentations

  • Experience with accounting software, QuickBooks proficiency is desirable

  • English proficiency is required
