Peace Winds Japan Programme Manager-Dadaab/Fafi Mission, Jobs in Kenya About Peace Winds Japan Peace winds Japan (PWJ) is an INGO, dedicated to the support of people in distress, threatened by conflict, poverty or other turmoil.
With its headquarters in Japan, PWJ has been active in various parts of the world.
In Garissa County, Kenya, since 2012, PWJ has been working on shelter, infrastructure and livelihood projects to improve living environment of refugee and host populations in Dadaab and Fafi Sub-county.
The programme manager will provide leadership and management in development and implementation of the PWJ’ Dadaab and Fafi operation based on humanitarian and development nexus programming in line with Global Compact for Refugees (GCR), particularly in livelihood, infrastructure and shelters.
The programme manager will ensure effective systems, processes and internal and external relationships are in place that support high-quality programming advancing PWJ’s work to create sustainable impact on the lives of people affected by forced displacement in operational areas.
Coordinate and manage ongoing and up-coming projects in close cooperation with staffs and partners.
Monitor and evaluate implementation of projects to ensure that sustainable impact is achieved and interventions are compliant with the organization, donor policies & guidelines.
Develop and maintain good relations with the government (national and county), donors and other partners.
Ensure prudent and accountable use of financial resources.
Prepare donor and internal reports, review evaluation reports and other reports while ensuring timeliness and quality standards are adhered to.
Build knowledge and technical capacity of staff through training, mentoring, coaching to deliver and monitor high quality interventions.
Identify, create and capitalize on funding opportunities for further growth of the Dadaab/Fafi mission by developing strong relationships with existing and potential donors and taking a lead role in proposal development.
Knowledge, Experience and Personal Skills Required
Good knowledge in development and humanitarian work, preferably in the context of refugee and host community and/ or livelihood, infrastructure and shelter projects
At least 7 years direct project management experience in a development and/or humanitarian context with preferably at least 2-3 years working in the area of development
Master’s degree in a relevant field
Experience engaging and coordinating with partner organizations
Monitoring and Evaluation experience required
Ability to organize tasks simultaneously and prioritize work
Excellent communication skills and team-building techniques
Ability to train and facilitate dialogue among a diverse group of individuals with various skill sets and work styles
Strong and flexible leadership
Strong communication and negotiation skills in English, both verbally and written
Honest and responsible to meet the job’s demands
Willingness to adhere to and carry out Peace Winds Japan rules
