  • PATH is leading a consortium of partners in the implementation of the recently awarded USAID End Malaria Program (EMP). This is a 5-year Cooperative Agreement.

  • In partnership with Jhpiego and the Zambia Centre for Communication Programs (ZCCP), guided by the National Malaria Elimination Strategic Plan and in collaboration with the End Malaria Council (EMC), the End Malaria Program (EMP) will build on the PATH learning and momentum achieved as the lead for PMI’s Program for Advancement of Malaria Outcomes (PAMO).

  • In line with PMI’s strategy, the EMP will assist the GRZ to accelerate progress toward its goal of eliminating local malaria infection and disease in Zambia by achieving high levels of effective coverage with high-quality malaria control interventions, leading to major reductions in malaria prevalence, incidence, severe disease, and death in four focal high-burden provinces: Luapula, Northern, Muchinga, and Eastern.

  • PATH seeks to recruit a Social Behaviour Change Specialist who will be responsible for supporting the SBC advisor in providing technical guidance in behavior change communication in close partnership with the National Malaria Elimination Program.

  • The Social Behaviour Change Specialist will support EMP in the development of success stories and sharing best practices, identified in the field, and disseminate these. .

    Responsibilities

    • Provide technical advice and support in
    the development and implementation of SBC strategies to support attainment of project goals

    • Support the conduct of formative research and the update of the national malaria communication strategy

    • Develop concepts for radio/video and various medium using different audiences and ensure mass media activities complement community mobilization activities

    • Provide input to the selection of local subcontractors or vendors for radio, print, and other media materials. Oversee the quality of their work and ensure materials are aired or distributed as planned.

    • Work closely with the CSO Grants Manager, CEMOs, PHO, DHO counterparts, and the CSOs to conceptualize community-based communication strategies and processes and develop, tailored costed work plans and training materials for the CSOs.

    • Participate in Technical Working Group meetings

    • Actively seek to learn about best practices in SBC and share learnings with colleagues

    • Participate in the development of annual work plans

    • Other duties as identified and discussed with the supervisor

    • Produce activity reports and review and provide input into the SBC monthly program reports

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (development studies, public health, etc.).

    • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in SBC work.

    • Demonstrated track record in planning and coordinating programs in consultation with government and other partners.

    • Strong writing, reporting and presentation skills.

    • Experience in training and institutional capacity-building.

    • Knowledge of and experience with USAID requirements preferred.

    • Must have legal authorization to work in Zambia.
