PATH NGO Driver Jobs in Uganda - Infectious Diseases Detection and Surveillance Section Vacancies PATH is seeking a Driver who will ensure appropriate and secure transportation of staff, visitors and partners while on duty, program and project material, goods and correspondence to and from the PATH office, always in strict compliance with the policy on safe driving and according to the Road Code, ensure that the project vehicle is in proper running condition at all times – this include but not limited to checking of tire pressure, checking fluid levels, break lights.
The driver will be based in Kampala.

Infectious Disease Detection and Surveillance (IDDS) is a five-year USAID-funded project with the following overall objectives:
Improve the detection of diseases of public health importance and identification of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in priority infectious diseases through an accessible, accurate, adaptable, timely, and integrated diagnostic network system;
Improve the quality of real-time surveillance systems for pathogens of greatest public health concern, including AMR and zoonotic diseases, and;
Generate evidence-based guidance and innovative solutions to strengthen in-country diagnostic networks and surveillance systems using a One Health approach.
Transport project staff, project counterparts, consultants and other visitors to project sites, workshops/meetings, and various events in and around Kampala and occasionally outside Kampala as requested.
Ensuring the safety of passengers by courteously reminding them of safety practices while in the vehicle.
Perform or schedule maintenance services and ensuring that project vehicles are clean and in proper working order.
Follow up with vehicle maintenance regulations and licenses and making recommendations to the Country Program Administrator for necessary actions.
Report suspected vehicle malfunctions or issues.
Ensure that vehicles always have adequate petrol, using office account.
Maintain the vehicle/driver’s logbook.
Assist team in logistics preparations as needed for workshops, in-country travel, and project activities.
Update all vehicle documents and checking vehicle insurance.
Run such as document delivery, mailing, banking, customs clearance, bill payments, shopping for office supplies etc., as requested.
Minimum of Ordinary level certificate of education and a valid Class C Ugandan driving license. A certificate in motor vehicle mechanics or defensive driving will be an added advantage.
A minimum of four (4) years’ driving experience for an international NGO.
Knowledge of Kampala roads and terrain.
Basic knowledge/familiarity with automobile maintenance.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to work extra hours when required.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a pleasant, accommodating approach.
Self-motivated, courteous, and humble individual.
Proven ability to work under pressure and availability to work outside of normal business hours, as required.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members, and proven ability to work in a team.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
