The Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) activity supports United States Agency for International Development


(USAID)/South Africa’s Health Office by working collaboratively with the members of the office to achieve their overall goals by creatively finding innovative solutions, supplement their existing staff capacity and complement, and as appropriate enhance capacity in performance management; evaluation and research; and systematic collaboration, continuous learning and adaptive management.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the MERL team in developing a variety of knowledge products associated with supporting USAID’s MERL initiatives
  • Design, develop, and facilitate effective collaboration opportunities within Panagora, and between and among the USAID/South Africa’s Health Office and its partners
  • Compile and finalize reports and format content for learning and dissemination events, e.g., webinars, PowerPoint, workshops, etc.
  • Work with the MERL team to identify, strengthen and add value to existing communication and knowledge management practices and processes in support of USAID/South Africa’s Health Office.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for learning and collaboration
  • Support other tasks as the
    MERL team and Health Office requests
  • Develop Knowledge Management/Communications scopes of work and manage external surge support as needed.

    Qualifications

  • BA or Master’s degree in communications, knowledge management, public health, international development, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in knowledge management and communications, experience working in public health, and/or USAID-funded projects strongly preferred
  • Experience promoting and maintaining an international project or company brand; experience with USAID branding preferred
  • Experience maintaining a database of photos, documents, and training materials
  • Experience collaborating effectively via email, conference call, and other communication channels with colleagues in various geographic locations
  • Excellent command of the English language (verbal and written) with a proven ability to rewrite technical information for non-experts
  • Proven organizational and management skills, ability to work independently and in teams in a multi-cultural context
