    About the Role

  • We're looking for an experienced stakeholder and communications manager to lead our government relations and external partner liaison work relating to domestic seed production in Rwanda.

  • Over the next 5 years, your work will support us to serve millions of farmers, create them billions of Rwandan francs of additional income whilst simultaneously positioning Rwanda as a global leader in seed production and research.

  • You will directly contribute to the Government of Rwanda's vision to create a privatized domestic seed industry.

  • Over the past 3 years One Acre Fund has become a local pioneer in seed production, supporting over 3,000 MT of hybrid maize seed getting to market and this year obtained multimillion dollar funding to launch a seed centre of excellence right here in Rwanda.

  • Through expert stakeholder engagement and development of a network of champions you will ensure the successful launch of the seed centre of excellence and continued delivery of thousands of tonnes of 'Made in Rwanda' seed to farmers each year.

  • Reporting Lines: Working across our
    Government Relations and Seed teams; you will report to the Rwanda Legal Counsel and Government Relations Lead and the Seed Division Director and work with several departments across the
    organisation covering communications, marketing, policy and business development.


  • Seed Centre Advisory Council Whip: organizing, running, taking and sharing minutes, have regular follow-ups with partners, ensure partnerships are running smoothly and everyone is content with contributions and roles of all partners.

  • Communications and partnerships management: develop a stakeholder engagement plan and comms strategy.

  • Build a network of Champions for the Seed Centre of Excellence: develop and expand trust-based relationships with champions, build confidence in the program.

  • Government Relationship management improving cooperation with the government, and implementing new strategies in relationship management with senior government partners especially MINAGRI, RAB, RICA, seed companies and seed multipliers.

  • Brand development for the Seed Centre of Excellence: use your experience in communications and marketing to lead the development of a brand for the centre.

    Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • 3+ years of experience in communications, public relations or journalism. This experience should include the design of communication strategies, assembly of engaging communicating materials, and analysis of information to produce analytical reports.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills to produce high-quality reports, presentations and proposals with minimal need for content editing or proofreading.

  • Event Planning including experience leading high-level events.

  • Social influencing experience an understanding of the social influencer space.

  • Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda required; French is a bonus.
