Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education means grade D plain or its equivalent qualification from a recognizes! institution;

  • A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for class(is) of vehicle(s) an officer is required to drive;

  • Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week at St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (EIHBT), or any other recognized institution;

  • Passed Suitability Test for Driver Grade TI;
    tv) Passed Practical Test for Drivers conducted by the ODPP;

  • An annual certificate of eve examination;

  • A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police; and

  • At least two (2) years driving experience,

    Duties and Responsibilities

    This is the entry grade for this cadre. An officer at this level may be deployed to work at
    any of the Departments at the Headquarters or County Offices under the supervision of a
    senior officer. Specifically, duties and responsibilities will entail:

  • Safeguard the motor vehicle on and off the road.

  • Maintenance of work tickets for vehicles assigned.

  • Oversee safety of passengers and/or goods therein.

  • Maintenance of cleanliness of
    the vehicle to enhance the image of the ODPP, and to take the vehicles user friendly.

  • Carrying out routine checks on the vehicles cooling, ail, electrical and braking system,
    tyre pressure among others.

  • Maintain daily schedules for the vehicles and drivers assigned.

  • Detecting and reporting accidents and malfunctioning of vehicle systems to ensure
    appropriate strategies are developed to minimize on the accidents and incidents, and on the associated costs.

  • Transport authorized staff to designated locations in a sale and timely manner, to support the ODPP staff in the performance of work.

  • Collect daily schedules from the supervisor and report back on unforeseen changes in the get schedule, Lo assist in the delivery of transport services against set timelines and quality standards,

  • Record distance travelled throughout the month and fuel costs incurred for proper record keeping and management of transport cost.
